Booking One-Way Flight From Manila

Yeah I have never gone through CheapOAir before. I usually use Expedia or Cheapflights for my travels both domestic and abroad, that way my card does not get flagged if I go through a International carrier's site. Which it does happen. I think DFW is one of AA's hubs so that's why it's so cheap to fly out of there. I would if I were you fly in to and out of DFW and have your asawa pick you up to drive to Austin. It can help you see more of the landscape, my asawa could not believe how big America actually is until we drove cross country from NC-California, 2 weeks after she got here.

Yes that's the plan. I am actually the one who will be picking up my parents this time.

When I flew out here almost 7 years ago, my asawa picked me up all the way in the Philippines because I was such a chicken. Hehe

Thank you!

Yeah my wife wanted me to fly with her from Davao to the USA. So I did that to help ease her mind. It's the least I can do for the woman I love.

We're free to go wherever we want tonight. There are a couple restaurants in the hotel and a coffee shop.

Correction ... The shore pass is valid for 3 days. However the flight number and date is written on it so I don't know what immigration would say if coming back to the airport after a couple days.

The Nikko hotel was very comfortable. The CR is stocked with everything needed for an overnight. Bed is comfortable and super quiet even being close to the airport.

We took the free shuttle bus from the Nikko hotel now back here at Narita. No need to check back in with the airline as they kept our ManIla checked luggage, which leaves us with just a few carry ons. Security took about 5 minutes to clear, then got in line at immigration to come back into the airport. That took about 20 minutes as the line is somewhat of a wait there.

Now we look forward to getting to Chicago. A great experience doing it this way with JAL so far.

POE went fine at Chicago. There is a line for "visa" holders. The CBP officer handed us our original I-129f "proof of relationship" pictures. They were "extra" from what they needed to keep there at customs.

The connecting flight required us to collect our checked bags from JAL at a closeby baggage claim and then we passed those bags back off to the nearby AA people.

Then we had to get on a train to the next terminal, go through security and then walk to the departure gate. Our layover was almost 2 hours which was plenty of time to make the transfer.

So I was able to book a flight through Orbitz with JAL from Manila to Dallas with a 3-hour layover in NRT for $1700 flying out on Feb 27th. Not bad huh?!

I know that we shouldn't book the flights until we have visa in hand, but I have been keeping an eye on the tickets and they're going crazy and more expensive as it's getting near. Our ideal flight date is late this week due to personal reasons. And when I saw a 1-stop flight with JAL, it's really hard to resist. Plus my parents Visa status have been "Issued" on the same day of their interview which was 02/18, so I think we should be good.

Again, thanks for all the help and ideas from everyone in this forum!

Has anyone tried asiana airlines?

Their tickets are very cheap.. hmmm.. maybe because of the accident they had years ago in SFO?

I doubt it cheap due to any accidents years ago at SFO

What do you define as "Cheap" and how long are the layovers

Not bad either. $1700 for both of my parents, by the way.

Good Price

There is a PhP23,924 one way flight from CEB to SFO with Asiana Airlines.

Most flights with Asiana Airlines are cheaper than any other flights.

Using skyscanner.com to check and compare fare prices.
