Hello all,

The NOA2 letter said the approval notice is valid: 12/09/2014 to 04/08/2015 and it took while to get the MNL case number(it took two months) so we made an interview appointment March 25, about two weeks before end of the approval notice validity. But the last document needed is a police certificate from the Japanese embassy because my fiancee worked in Japan for 6 months. I have read that the average time to receive the police certificate is about 2 months and sometimes longer. My question is should we cancel the visa interview and avoid the dreaded 221g or should we go ahead with the interview date and hope the police certificate will arrive before the interview? Or should we wait to see if we receive the police certificate before the interview and cancel only if we don't receive it? I would appreciate any answers, tips or suggestions.

Thanks all VJers,

Jerry

1st, the petition won't expire after 4 months, the embassy will automatically extend it up to a year.

Whether you reschedule your interview or not is up to you, either way you will be sitting, waiting. I personally would keep the interview and get the 221g, but that is me.
