re entry to the us

I have posted this in another thread but i figured this might get more attention

ok guys, i have a question. we already have the green card and this will be my husbands second time entering the US. so i was wondering , how does the immigration work. will we go through 2 different lines? how long will this take? (i KNOW alot of it depends on the line) i wasnt even thinking about this when i bought the tickets and we only have a one hour layover. I am getting a bit worried about that now

Honetsly.. I would think that if he has the GC you both could go through the "Resident/Citizen" lines.. though those aren;t always shorter.

I came back to the States after a trip to my home country and I went throught the citizens line.

I asked an officer because I wanted to make sure, and I actually felt pretty stupid when he indicated me to go through the citizens line, since after talking to him I saw it clearly stated: "CITIZENS AND RESIDENTS".

I just had my passport and my stamp (I didn't travel with my GC as I hadn't received it in the mail yet) and the whole thing only took a few minutes. They did ask me some "verification questions", like my parents' names and the date of my departure...maybe because I didn't have the GC with me and my passport is under my maiden name.

Anyway, go through the citizens line and you will be fine!
