Divorce is not as common is ME/NA as it is in other parts of the world. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, it surely does but not at the rate we are used to seeing around here. I'm divorced myself and my fiance never had an issue with it and his family doesn't either but I did have to go into some detail about my previous marriage and the reason it failed.

What has been your experiance? If you answer yes to the families or your S.O. having an issue please explain further.

I am divorced. My husband was never married before. While it hasn't been an issue, I don't think it makes things easier either... where we live, where we take my daughter and for how long all depend on the ex being cooperative.

I didn't even take that factor into consideration. I know other women have expressed concern over the relationships between their children and new spouse, I can't imagine how hard that can be at times.

I am divorced and I have a child from that marriage. My (current) had no problem with me having been divorced or having a child. He thinks I have some wisdom that unmarried do not have. Well, I donnot have any wisdom, but I did learn a few things. My husband's family also had/has no problems with me being divorced. In fact, my husband's parents, both of them were married and divorced before they got married. My husband and his family understand divorce happens (for whatever reason) and they all know me, and based their opinion on me on 'me' not my past.

Both my husband and his family, my family also just love my daughter and from day one called her their daughter. Elhamdullah, it is not like *some* men where the step-children are 'your children' ...I hate how some people make it a point to make the children outsiders and *other people's children*...for me, if you live with me and love me, then you love my children too... so then in a way they are your children too. (I am not speaking as in adoption, but just the care and time)

I also felt in Algerie (my family) the taboo generally associated with divorced women was not present. Sure a unmarried virginal women is more appealing to a man, but least there they were not looked down upon.

But in reference to divorce, my ex once said women are like shoes, if they are old and worn, tired of them, you can get another...so why would I want someone else's old shoes? (As you can see one reason we are no longer married:lol:)

I had to explain to my husband why the divorce happened. This was before we started talking seriously. He actually cried when I told him the whole story of what happened. I was just like, 'dude...chill!!! it's ok!!!'

Anyhoo...his parents are both deceased as are their siblings except for one aunt. He went to her before we married and explained our situation and she gave him her blessing and said she'd make dua for us when she went to Hajj (which was while I was in Cairo so I never got to meet her). Her son is an imam at one of the mosques there and stood as one of his witnesses. His sisters didn't have a problem with my being divorced at all and were disappointed that I didn't bring my daughters with me.

Only time will tell how my daughters act with him in real life but so far they get along with him via the webcam every night. They ask him all kinds of questions, mostly about food, music and fashion. My younger one blows him kisses and sends him pictures in the mail. The older diva keeps asking him what the girls her age there wear. She was appauled that there is no Abercrombie and Fitch there!!! lol.

I am divorced and my fiance nor his family had any problem with it. Although if we were to marry in Jordan they wanted to be sure we waited the 3 months, but we decided to do the K1 anyways. His father is divorced and remarried and his mom never remarried and lives in Turkey. I haven't met her in person but we're already in love with each other, she's an amazing woman. I have a teenage son too (very young mom) and there aren't any issues with that either so far. My son and fiance are very excited to meet each other. Most likely he will be going with me on my next trip in 7 weeks, inshaAllah.

Wow that's weird. You are from Jordan  I heard in Algerie they give Algeriens marrying foreingers a hard time, which they did us, but then I heard from a foreigner they were married within a 1month? The local police made me say the shahada (which is fine since i am muslim, but the country is democratic) and he wanted 7000dinars and a new computer.

Well it wasnt even about that, its all about the money with them. Priests in Jordan are very wealthy for a reason. LOL have you ever heard of a priest that knew you were married in a church and then gave you a bible to swear on it that you didn't?:lol::lol:

 Yes we should. A chapel and a matchmaking service. We would be rolling in the dough then:lol:

But it kinda ticked me off the police officer we had to file with. How he just assumed I was a ricj foreigner and how I would not miss a couple thousands
