I-864 - Is it needed for a K1 interview? (DR)

Does the petitioner need to bring the I-864 to the K1 interview in the Dominican Republic? I saw it as one of the documents listed on Mr. Tee's wiki, though it is not listed on the website.

Thoughts? Was anyone asked for it?

We took it with us, but were not asked for it. Better to have it and not need it. Good luck.

the affidavit isn't the i864 for K1, it's the i134

the i864 is used for the adjustment of status in the US

For the interview is the I-134, and supporting documents. I was asked just the form, but not the letters from the bank and employers, taxs, etc. Someone said that they didn't ask for the I-134 form the day of the interview, but that form is in the list of documents that you have to hand over that day, along with the birth certificate, police records, etc.. Just in case, take the form and the supporting documents with you that day. Good luck!

In fact, the petitioner does not need to be at the interview unless they requested, ususally petitinoers aren't allowed to enter with the beneficiary.

In the Dominican Republic it's pretty much a requirement for the Spouse or Fiance (USC) to attend and both are interviewed... It's actually on the packet that the Beneficiary receives it says "the Petitioner is strongly encouraged to attend"

And usually from what most DR Couples report and my own experience it has been the USC who is most asked the majority of questions or both are asked similar questions.

And yes took a filled out 864 and No they didn't ask for it.

On the email send with appt it doesnt indicate petitioner must be there. My husband will have to go alone since my dr doesnt allow me to travel due to my advance pregnancy. Will my dr's letter explaining help?

They did not ask For the I-864 form because it is not needed for interview for K-1 visa . You will need it later for AOS after you are in the states and are married. For K-1 visa most embassy require the I-134 form. I have heard some embassy do not ask for it I do not know how true that is

IF you was doing the IR-1/CR-1 or another type of visa then the embassy will of ask to see the I-864 form as the AOS is done during the process of the visa and not after the visa is issue like with the K-1

I should clarify... following MrTee12's wiki/advice I also too k both forms to be safe... you can always shred them later... I believe they asked about my I-14 but can't really recall as it went so fast at the first window and she asked for several forms at once.

I also had a doctor's letter stating why I could not be present during the interview. My husband went alone, and we were approved.

Don't worry, the doctor's letter should be enough for them.

Omg! Thank You as the date gets closer I was worry and yesterday spoke again to dr while keeps insisting its for the best of my interest not to travel. So thank you for the assurance I need it.
