We will have a business trip abroad right in the time frame few days after our Interview and Oath date. It is my understanding that they will take away my green card right after the oath.

I have a business trip abroad within few days after the oath and just do not know what to do.- travel on my EU passport, but without the green card I can not get back to US.

Any suggestion is very appreciated.

If you have your tickets you can get a passport the same day from a passport agency. You can look it up online to see one that's close to where you live and make an appointment either the day of your oath ceremony or the day after.

At the ceremony, you would get a citizenship certificate; in most major cities there is a passport office that can expedite passports (US that is), for a fee. WIth an air ticket, they would even do it same day I've heard.

What I'd do if I were you is to check on that passport office on the specifics of your case (citizen cert just obtained) and if the same day or next day will work. If it doen't then perhaps change travel date?

thanks for the replies, I wonder if I can travel on my current EU passport, with the citizenship certificate posing as a proof on my US citizenship, should I ran into any issues getting US passport in time?

No. As a US citizen, you are required by law to leave and enter the US with an American passport.

You should postpone your oath ceremony or travel plans if there is a conflict.

I'm not clear on what actually happens if you don't comply with this, but that's the law.
