fiance visa

The truth is she'll never know the exact reason.

My guess will be they're scrutinizing the validity of their relationship and for security reasons (criminal background check).

If nothing was asked for they need further review. What was asked at the interview?

The questions? Her answers? Do they have red flags? Is this her first time being petition?

*** Thread moved from Embassy/Consulate forum to the Waivers/AP forum -- OP is at that stage. ***

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

You still did not anwer a key question: Was she issued a 221(g)?. If she was, then she needs to comply with the instructions on it. Nothing will happen until she does. And if they want documents, she needs to send them in the exact way they ask for (usually 2Go).

If that is not the case, then they suspect something is wrong, and they will not tell anyone until they resolve it themselves. This is additional administrative processing. Nobody can tell how long it will take, but if you answer the questions the other members posted in this thread, we might be able to get some reasonable idea as to what the problem is.

Ths USA does AP more often in some countries than others. It will probably not surprise you to learn that Pakistan and Iran will almost always go to AP. Dominican Republic will get it a lot too, as llovemyman found out, but the worst by far are countries with terrorism problems. The Philippines is not too bad, but if they suspect a specific problem, even that one will get AP.

Sometimes it is the most unlikley thing that will bring about AP, such as your name is similar to a known terrorist. The best example of that point is that if Barack Obama were an alien from Afghanistan looking for a K-1, he would probably get AP because his name is similar to that of the mastermind of 9-11.

Just hang in there and wait for somethng to happen. I know you want to hear something better, and we all want to tell you something better, but you want to hear the truth most of all, and this is it.

The BIG Question to the OP is: Did they take her Passport? Yes or No. Yes is Positive and No is Negative. As another Member asked: Did they issue a 221-G? Sounds like AP but the Big question is: Did they take her Passport?

they take her passport.. the American first question was how she defined her relationship to her f.. and she paused for almost a minute..maybe that's it or the age difference..? no they said docs are complete so she is not 221g.. they don't tell her the reason why they need to review her case..

I think networking is a critical piece in successfully migrating and integrating to another country. By taking a job, even minimum wage, you are at least starting to know new people and make contacts. That in and by itself can lead to bigger and better things.

I have my fiance in AP for 10 months now. Like others here, the CO said congratulations and that the paperwork was in order but that they'll need to do additional review on the case. They kept the passport, said she'll be cleared in 2-3 months and issued a bluish green 221g form and here we are 10 months later.

Meanwhile, we've requested the passport back this January for traveling purpose. I am surprised to see so many people stuck in AP for such long periods.

I hope every one gets cleared so that they can start their lives.

I want to ask someone who's been tracking 221g as what is the possibility of visa clearance. Is islamabad embassy taking an year or more to get AP cases cleared. Has anyone been able to figure out the pattern yet?

Best
