Thanks. I was thinking once you have your 10 years then there maybe need to update on the SS office information. However, if 10 years PR card doesn't make a difference why should naturalization do?

You do not ever need to renew your card. The number is yours for life. The green card is your authorization to work.

Naturalization is not a factor. It doesn't mean anything to your SSN or card.

I also have a question. I never bathered to change my SS to the one with nothing extra written on it. I'm planing to do it as soon as my 10y GC arrives . What documents I have to bring with me to the ss office ?

Your green card and your SS card.

Naturalization is not a factor. It doesn't mean anything to your SSN or card.

Personally, whilst the OP is talking about the "card" I think they meant the administration generally, as in "Do I have to do anything else down the line?"

So yes, when it comes to naturalising a person should report the change in citizenship to their local office.

Fair enough. Do you know offhand though if that information of citizenship gets relayed to them at all? Can you collect Social Security benefits if you are not a citizen? How do they know to register you to vote? I mean, since we're on the topic and hijacking this thread anyway lol
