Emailing Documents to Your Fiance in Philippines

With regards to my earlier post, and specifically my concern about emailing documents containing both my full name and SSN, I of course wasn't concerned about "giving my SSN to the DoS." That would make no sense on any level. Various, if not all, departments of the federal government already have access to my SSN, which was, of course, assigned to me by the federal government...Specifically the Social Security Administration.

I personally would not be concerned about emailing the documents. They will be just as safe as the nude photos of Jennifer Lawrence and other celebrities were on Apple's iCloud.... Seriously though, there are so many other ways that people get our SSN numbers now, that somebody hacking into Yahoo or Google or Apple is just another risk that I am willing to take.

As was pointed out, unless your fiancee has her own printer, the documents often get printed somewhere else and that is where you have some risk. Even if your fiancee requests they get deleted, there is always the chance they can be "recovered". Sometimes the CFO requests a copy of the 1040 and that should be blacked out completely (thick Sharpie...let it bleed through!).

Since the I-134 should be the signed original (of course now it is questionable if it is even needed in Manila any longer), you can include the additional documents in the DHL or FEDEX envelope and that is a high level of security.

If email security is an issue, look up PGP/GPG. If I have to send anything private or "eyes-only" thru email it via this method.
