I'm confused. Does the embassy schedule the interview or the NVC? It seems like the embassy would do that, but when I emailed them, they told me my case is still with the NVC and I have to wait until they schedule the interview. I received a CC in early March.

The embassy schedules K1 interviews, NVC schedules IR1/CR1 interviews. The embassy will send the NVC a list of available time slots, the NVC then fills them based on CC/priority date. There were a few interview dates given out a week ago, I assumed that all of the slots NVC has been given are currently filled, however, I spoke with RJ, or maybe it was JR from the NVC this morning and was told not all of the slots for Cairo have been filled yet. Whether this is true or not, I do not know.

I have been hounding both the NVC and embassy all week as I was trying to gauge when we might get an interview date. We got our CC more than 6 weeks ago and still nothing, and the hubby will be leaving for active duty with the Egyptian army in 1 week. If we don't get a letter before he goes, I don't know how I will be able to inform him, or if they would release him long enough to attend without having made prior arrangements. It's so frustrating.

Hi Romet,

Thank you for the suggestion. You are correct, I did already ask the NVC for help. Actually, it was more like begged them for help in between the sobs and sniffles as I struggled to hold back my tears. They insisted there is nothing they can do, it is out of their hands.

The countdown has begun, less than one week until the hubby leaves... I pray Allah keeps us both strong. This will be the first time since we met, that I will have no communication with my husband for an extended period of time. I don't think we've ever gone more than 8 hours without talking or some form communication. He wants to sneak a phone in because when he was a new solider a few years ago, he saw some of the returning soldiers had done so. As much as I want him to, I told him he better not, as I don't want him to get caught and get in trouble. Honestly though, I don't think I would be mad if he did, otherwise, I really don't know how we'll have the strength to get through this, especially with the deteriorating health of my grandfather.

Anyway, thanks again for the suggestion.

We feel for you Maharosa and anxiously wait for you to get scheduled. I called today and was told they were definitely still scheduling May so that's good news...

It sucks to see the average waiting time go from 60 to 120ish days more recently! I wonder if it has to do with the extra work from Yemen. Does anyone know if there is any sort of priority for Egyptians over other countries at our embassy???

Wish there was more movement...the only interview I'm aware of for April is GeorgeW's sometime this week and they NEED to start scheduling Feb CCs!!!!

Just for your information Mahrousa, in worst case scenario you can reschedule the interview. I think they can postpone it for a month or so. I know that is not ideal situation, but just thought to let you know.

I doubt that the nvc representive knows if the Egyptian Embassy still have slots for May or not. I think may be they meant that in general they are doing scheduling for May to al embassies. Or may be I am wrong.

Thank you, Teamsami. I too was told on several occasions that they are still scheduling for may, however, it is hard to know if there is any truth to what they say. There were a couple of people with January CC's that received their P4 letters on 3/25, their interviews are scheduled for May. Since they all seemed to have received their interview letters the same day, it leads me to believe the NVC has completed all of the Cairo scheduling for May interviews already, despite one NVC rep. telling me he was able to look specifically at the Cairo interview schedule and see that there were still time slots available.

Dod, thank you for the suggestion. I am really hoping to avoid that if at all possible.
