I am so so so angry about this. It's not like Cairo is the only embassy in MENA, and it's an embassy that already struggles with the caseload it has.

Me too! Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll bring the staff from Yemen to Cairo to keep up with the additional workload. I just wish I had an idea as to what is going on, I don't think they scheduled any March interviews.

UUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH! Cairo makes me crazy! I sent them an email with "SECOND REQUEST" in the subject line to inquire about when they will fix the schedule on their website because they never responded to my first inquiry. Their response, "Please mention your case number so that we may check your case and advise you accordingly. "

Seriously!?!? So not helpful! I don't think they have any intention of updating the schedule anymore. :ranting:

There we have it folks! Definitive proof that Cairo doesn't really read the inquiries people send them. That would be a lot funnier if we weren't, you know, actually depending on them.

Realistically does this mean like april may for us?

I think so. Have you received your Packet 3 and sent it back yet? For us (K1 filers) it depends on when the Packet 3 is sent back. The "interview countdown" starts once they receive it. It seems like they're taking about 2 to 3 months to book interviews for K1 filers. We're "looking" (hoping) to get the interview towards the end of March beginning April.

Our lovely journey!!

10/08/2015: AOS packet sent to USCIS (Chicago lockbox) via USPS Priority mail (They received it 10/10/15).

10/16/2015: Text/eEmails received from USCIS with receipt number. We received 3.

10/22/2015: Received hard copies of NOA's for I-131, I-765, & I-485.

11/01/2015: Got NOA for biometrics appt (for 11/12/15).

11/03/2015: Did WALK IN biometrics appt - took 15 mins. Person taking said work permit should be in mail in less than 4 wks.

12/09/2015: Got email/text notification for INTERVIEW date.

12/28/2015: Got email/text notification EAD card has been mailed.

12/31/2015: Received EAD/AP card.

01/11/2016: INTERVIEW (in Los Angeles office).

01/11/2016: Case in in "CONTINUANCE". Awaiting approval. (Feels like AP).

06/27/2016: I-485 APPROVED - (FINALLY!!!) / 264 DAYS (8 MONTHS 20 DAYS)

07/01/2016: GREEN CARD RECEIVED

Your fiance in Egypt receives the Packet 3. We received ours in an EMAIL (below):

Please prepare the following documents for each person applying for a visa and send them to our office via Aramex courier service:

1. Photocopy of passport (the original to be submitted on the appointment date)

2. Photocopy of birth certificate

3. A copy of your divorce certificate (If previously married and divorced)

4. Police certificate from your country of nationality if you are 16 years old or older

5. Police certificate if you lived in a different country for more than 12 months and you were 16 years or older at that time.

6. An Affidavit of Support (Form I-134) signed by the Petitioner and notarized before either a notary public in the U.S. or a consular officer at the embassy.

7. Petitioner’s most recent year of federal income taxes (form 1040 only). Please also bring the most recent W2 form and a job letter indicating current salary and length of employment

8. Medical exam for applicant as attached, medical examination report should be submitted on the day of the visa interview. Applicants are advised to schedule their medical examination 3weeks prior to the date of their visa interview.

9. Applications: DS-160 application online application form: https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/, please print the confirmation page and send it along with the documents.

10. 2 photos face view photos with a white background for the applicant

11. Fees: Login to your profile at http://www.ustraveldocs.com/eg, print your deposit slip ( CGI ) and pay the fees 265$ at your local CIB bank.

Mohamed31 (who's also a K1 filer on this thread) got the same email. This is the PACKET 3. Because the post (snail mail) is not that great in Egypt, the consulate sends things via email or they call you (your fiance[e]'s) phone number that is on the petition.

Once you get this email, your fiance will have to put together the listed items and send all the requested documents to the consulate via Aramex. Send your fiance your notarized I-134 form NOW so he can get it as soon as possible (I sent it Fedex to my fiance and it cost me almost $80) :(. Again, the interview "countdown" for us (K1 filers) starts once THEY receive all the required items listed (that are applicable) from your fiance. If you know your case is in transit or already there, you should have your fiance start getting together the above items so once you get the email, he can send it back right away.

According to your timeline, your case has left the American NVC and should be there in Egypt. If you have your CASE NUMBER you can check the status of your application. If your file hasn't gotten to the embassy yet, it will say "IN TRANSIT". If it's already gotten to the embassy it will say "READY". From my understanding, from the "READY" point, it will only change to AP or ISSUED (after your interview).

After you send in your packet 3, you'll await the packet 4 (interview information). From my understanding, Egypt's "Packet 4" is a phone call (the embassy will call and give your fiance their interview date). As I've noted before, it's looking like the K1 filers interviews are taking between 2 to 3 months AFTER they receive your packet 3.

I hope this reads okay for you. I know it's an earful/eyeful.

Hopefully this helps a little with what to expect in the process.

Thank you so much Romet!!!!

It was so nice of you to put this summary together!

I truly appreciate it!

It is definitely an eyeful but very helpful

Reminds me of a cumbersome video game quest

Like old school Zelda link to the past level

Not sure why

Anyways

I did mail the tax documents and the form, but i didn't notarize it :'(

Yeah it cost me $90 at FedEx too!

Thought I did something wrong

So looks like I'm going to doing that again, awesome

My status still says in transit so I guess I have time

thanks again!!!

And good luck to you and everyone else!!

I sent my fiance the I-134 (not notarized) too initially and when I saw that Egypt required a NOTARIZED copy I was irritated. The state department doesn't actually require that document to be notarized.. but there we go... ((Mohamed31 had the same thing). I totally understand that different consulates require different docs, but come on... this one isn't cool..

But yes, send it again, along with your most current W2/1040 for 2014 (if you happened to have filed already) I also sent a current letter of employment verification from my job.

Good luck !!!!!
