Good luck inshallah. We've all been there!

Any updates from people whose visa was approved? Any visas in hand yet?

Hi Gatu,

My fiance had her interview on March,29th. they took her passport and we have been waiting since then!

That's ridiculous. I dont see how they can keep passports that long. What happens if you need it?

Hi Nernag,

I believe they want CURRENT financial information. It would probably be wise to prepare or try to get your co-sponsor now so it's done when you're ready for your interview. When you applied, if your husband's tax records were 2013, they may ask you for 2014 tax information (since April 15 is the deadline in the U.S. to file taxes).

Please note, we're doing the K1 visa, but I believe the guideline is the same. For my fiance's interview, he took my current 2014 tax returns, current letter from my employer verifying employment and salary, check stubs (last 3), and I believe even current bank statements (can't remember about the bank statements, but we sent them originally).

Always with these interviews, expect the worst and hope for the best.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!

thanks for your answer but this year was a little low because he move from state to another i really hope they understand that i thought our interview will be before the new year tax but elhamd llah .. im really so worried because its just gonna take time from us to bring one but what should i say .. elhamd llah

That is good to know, but kind of worrisome at the same time.

Has anyone ever not "known" when they take your passport whether your visa was approved or not? My understanding is, they tell you after the interview. AP does take awhile, but at least you know you got it---right?

Praise God, my husband's interview was today at 7:30AM and our case was accepted! He got a paper saying it would take 2 weeks but possibly more to get the visa and if it takes longer than 2 weeks, he should call a phone number. I asked him to scan or take a pic of the paper so I can take a look.

We'll write up a review of the Embassy this weekend but basically he said the interview lasted less than 5 minutes. He said the CO who conducted the interview was the same woman who stamped our marriage affidavit in the Embassy the day we got married last year. She asked about 3 questions: how did you meet, tell me about her family, and where did you get married.

I am elated. I was anxious and crying off and on yesterday because I was so worried.

Without VJ and this community, we couldn't have done it. We were overprepared with papers and forms and copies, but better to have more than needed than not enough.

He said it definitely seemed like she had already made a decision really before he even spoke. I can't stress enough how important creating your relationship story can be. I made a timeline in a Word doc and put important dates including every visit I ever made to him (5 in Egypt, and we met in Jordan once), screen captures of important moments on Facebook including discussions with family members, pictures during trips, etc.

You have to have the story to be convincing, thus leaving yourself with very basic questions like we had.

Good luck everyone, Will keep you posted when visa is in hand.
