Hi mero.lola,

Did you in fact GET a 221g at your interview? That is a type of "refusal/denial" form from my understanding. But also, it doesn't mean you've been totally denied. Some people get them because they need FURTHER information to prove they're a bona fide couple. At your interview did they say anything regarding your the form or what your status was? Often times, they won't have a lot of information for you until it gets returned to the US and gets whatever processing done here that needs. Then they'll send a letter.

For K1 filers even if you're approved at the interview, you go into AP until your K1 visa is actually issued. AP is just "administrative processing" and during this time they do whatever "processing" needs to be done at that time. Sometimes that's verifying that information submitted in your interview is correct. Or just putting your actually visa through. And unfortunately, there's NO TIME "limit" to how long it could be there... :(

I've never heard of people getting visas ON THE SPOT in Egypt (or many other countries). That just doesn't happen often. Even here in America, getting official government documents takes time to process and receive.

It TOTALLY sucks that these processes don't give MORE information so there isn't any misunderstandings. They would probably eliminate MANY calls/emails inquiring what exactly this information means. It's a TERRIBLE system.

Also, another route you can try is go through your US congressman and/or senator and see if they can help you get any further information.

Good luck and fingers crossed for you... :) :)

Thank you for your detailed message. To answer your quesitions, they have not given her any papers in the embassy. All of what the consular said "Go home and relax and will let you know" . It is just one time from NVC that i heard i have got a refusal. I called them like 10 times after that and all of them said i'm under AP>

is there difference between 221g AP and standard AP ? I'm wondering if that person in NVC gave us the wrong info.

Thank you again.

I just noticed that when I check the NVC site for the status, it says last update is today 4/23. But, we haven't received any email or phone call for an onterview! Does that update means anything at all?

For whatever reason... they have "touched" your file/case. They update it every time they look at your file, whether it be online or physically. And no, unfortunately, we have no idea what they're actually doing.

Our lovely journey!!

10/08/2015: AOS packet sent to USCIS (Chicago lockbox) via USPS Priority mail (They received it 10/10/15).

12/28/2015: Got email/text notification EAD card has been mailed.

I'm not sure why the NVC person said you were under 221g AP if they didn't actually give you the form. There IS a difference between the two "AP". One is a refusal/denial upon further investigation on THEIR part. "Regular AP" is just a processing period they still CAN send you a 221g or deny, but usually I don't think does.

If they told her to relax, I almost feel she's ok. Usually they will tell you that you're not approved but won't give you a reason. I'm not sure why they don't say "approved" right away in Egypt many times. What a way to treat people.

We got the PACKET 4 (interview date) today (Sunday, 26 April) in an EMAIL. Just know that your interview may come in an email or phone call.

It's been a little over 3 months from the time the embassy got our packet 3 to getting the actually interview date. I hope others get there's sooner. From the research I've done, it seems we're on the higher end of getting the interview.

Another thing, I actually emailed them on Thursday night with an "inquiry" email. I thought we'd get back the general statement email, but nope, they sent back the official interview date email.

We're excited and nervous at the same time.
