Hey guys,

We got our NOA1 for K-1 visa on Jan 29th and got approved Feb 5th. My fiance (American) is in the army so I'm pretty sure that's why we got sent to California and approved so quickly!

We had a bit of a different situation and I had to ask you guys on VisaJourney a lot of questions, so thought I'd share some useful info that we found out:

- My fiance's mailing address is different than his actual address. We put his mailing address as his parents in Utah, and his actual address as his military base in Georgia. There was no problem doing that.

- I am on a working holiday visa in Canada right now, even though I am from Scotland, so we just put the embassy I'd be applying to as London, UK, even though my address is in Canada. So far, no problems there. We definitely didn't think we'd get an interview before my visa ran out here (May), which is why we put London. So I'm either going to reschedule my interview or fly home early.

- For proof of relationship, we sent about 8 photographs of us together from over the past 3 years; flight itineraries (Note: NOT boarding passes - who keeps those, anyway?!); a couple of hotel receips and some Skype logs. We highlighted the dates on the itineraries, and annotated them with why we were visiting (eg Christmas, to meet each others family, etc).

- His full name didn't fit on some of the forms, so we just hand wrote them in. No problem doing that either.

- I need to get a Canadian Police Certificate as I've been living here for over 6 months. I emailed the embassy in London and they said it was absolutely FINE that I get one before I leave Canada. They weren't so clear on whether I needed one with fingerprints or whether just a name check would do, so I've booked myself an appointment to get both. The only reason I would need to get another police check when I was back in Scotland would be if I got arrested. I know a lot of people spent a ton of money getting a Canadian police check after they left Canada, so if you have a chance to do it before you leave, do it!

- As my fiance has been deployed twice, we just put his FOB name, country and dates there for his residence over the past 5 years. There was no need to go into specifics. For his current address, we just put his base name and State. Again, no street name or anything was needed.

Anyway, hopefully this helps someone! Thanks for all your help guys :) I'll be starting to get the rest of the docs ready for the interview now! :dancing:
