Hello Again,

I have filled out I-864 as a sponsor and also petitioner, my spouse will be completing the I-864A as member of the household and also joint sponsor (we have joint 1040).

I am confused on how to complete Question 13 & 15. Here's my questions:

  • does the word "SPONSOR" referring to me?
  • Number 13 is asking for a number.... I am petitioning for 1, should i answer 1?
  • Do I list the immigrant's name in the box provided(#13)?
  • household member - is this referring to my spouse?

Here's the exact wording in form i-864A
13. I, THE SPONSOR _is this me?? being i am the petitioner and sponsor__ (print name) in consideration of the household member's promise to support the following intending immigrant(s) and to be jointly and severally liable for any obligations I incur under the affidavit of support, promise to complete and file an affidavit of support on behalf of the following __I am petitioning for 1, should i answer 1___________ (indicate number) named intending immigrant(s) (see Step-by-Step instructions)

15. I, the household member, _ spouse name??_________ (print name) in consideration of the sponsors promise to complete and file an affidavit of support on behalf of the above __________(number from line 13) named intending immigrant

I thank you so much for your time and help! :)

Unless your "household" income is less than is required you'll be fine. Your husband will combine his income with yours as a household member and use the I-864a. You will use the I-864.

No on the I-864 that is your husband's name. And since you petitioned only your mother then the answer is 1 and her name would go into 13a.

This form is for multiple visa types so just be aware that some questions may not make sense for your visa type but they would for others.
