And most likely not true. I think Jesus and Mary Magdalene had a thing going, based on many works excluded from the Bible, something that did not fit into what Constantine had in mind for his new religion.

At the end of the day I think Obamas comment is a platitude. True enough in what it says but highly simplistic and ultimately not very useful in providing insight into the extremists of today.

As I said I think it's more egregious and relevant to the arguments being made here that a former POTUS said in public that God guided his decision to go to war. I don't believe George W Bush is or was a religious extremist but that comment was clearly made for a reason.

If anyone thinks Jesus represents only a peaceful loving soul, then think again. For an act of adultery, Jesus would kill innocent children for the adultery of others; hardly fair justice, love, or the concern for human beings.

Some apologists claim that "children" refers to the followers of a cult of Jezebel and not to children birthed from Jezebel. However, if this proved the case, the situation would appear even more horrific, for a cult of believers could number in the dozens, hundreds, thousands, or more. The deaths of these multitude of cult believers (which would include children within its membership) would only make the moralistic problem far more atrocious.

The only purpose of such an argument is to suggests that Muslims are inherently violent for virtue of being Muslims. It might appear that was from tabloid news headlines but it flies in the face of the obvious - why aren't more Muslims doing it?
