I come from Africa. I submitted my DS- 260 in 18th June 2014. thank you in advance

Currently the Africa numbers for March as as below:

AFRICA 27,800 Except:

Egypt: 15,700

Ethiopia: 18,900

So anything up to AF27800 (excluding Egypt and Ethiopia which are as above)

Judging by last year you could expect an interview August / September 2015 (unless your number is from Egypt or Ethiopia). There are quite a few posts reguarding numbers on the forum and several people who know a lot more that I.

thank you. so it means they dont consider how early or late one submitt the DS-260 forms.

Well, that does influence it in that they can't schedule an interview without completing processing of the DS260, so a late submission may delay an interview that could have been earlier. But yes, assuming all DS's are processed, interviews are scheduled according to case nunber not date of submission of DS260.

You will only be called for an interview when your number is current, I think Suzy has posted that it is currently taking about 3 months to process the D260 so if you have already submitted then you should be getting the documentation togther and preparing for the interview. If you submitted the DS260 in June then you will just have to wait until your number is current and you are scheduled for an interview.

Your number is quite high for Africa, so you will need to ensure that all your paperwork is 100% in order or you risk loosing the opportunity.

You can check which numbers are current each month by following this link: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/law-and-policy/bulletin.html

Click on the bulletin at the top of the page and scroll down until you see the following heading:

B. DIVERSITY IMMIGRANT (DV) CATEGORY FOR THE MONTH

OF FEBRUARY (this is whatever month you are checking)

You will see a table with the various regions and the number which are current for that month. If you scroll further down you will see the number for the following month under the heading:

C. THE DIVERSITY (DV) IMMIGRANT CATEGORY RANK CUT-OFFS

WHICH WILL APPLY IN MARCH (this is the next month)

Sussie all the way from US, my dreamland, thank you alot.

Wobbiyal from S.A, thank you too. Its a long wait but its all fine. Cheers

I'm from SA originally too ;)

Good luck with the process... I expect you will be current in September but there is an outside chance of sooner so as wobblyal said, make sure all your paperwork is in order.

Hi. I am an EU37*** selectee. I'd like to ask about the work experience in the interview. Are letters signed from employers enough to prove my experience? Or do I need to provide also salary details? I work as a graphic designer.

Can i also show them some of my work, like brochures and flyers that I have printed for clients? I have also some sketch portraits of some people that I have done. Do you advise me to bring them with me or there’s no reason.

Thanks

Are you trying to qualify through work experience rather than education? Did you not finish high school?

Yes exactly. Haven't finished. I have done 6 years elementary + 3 years junior high school + 3 years Training school with graphic design degree and 2 years Vocational school with a graphic design diploma.

Ok so the first thing to do is ensure it meets the DV requirements on o*net - job zone 4 or 5 with SVP >7.

Once you have confirmed that, you will need to prove it, by taking as much evidence as you can. By that I mean evidence that it conforms to the level of the job as required,

It's not easy to qualify on work experience and the burden of proof will be really up to you.

I think the britsimonsays blog has something on this too.
