I e-filed mine last year with direct deposit for both federal and state. My state return was deposited in 3 days. My federal return was deposited in 6 days.

The time may reflect an early vs. later filing when they were less busy. I submitted it before the end of January last year.

Just processed my wifes tax return. She will basically have her refund in 9 days deposited directly into her bank account..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Not to hijack the thread, but a quick tax-related question....

My husband has not received W2's yet from his two former employers. Has the deadline passed? Does this mean that we need to contact the employers directly? Or is there some other way to get them (ie. I would prefer to not have to contact them for personal reasons)?

Thanks...

Do the old employers have your current address? The deadline for making the initial attempt is January 31. If they attempted and then they were returned undeliverable, then they technically met the requirement and they may simply be sitting on them waiting for you to contact them.

YMMV

You have until April 17th to file taxes this year.Give it some more time, and call them if by the end of this month you have not received. By law, W-2s should be MAILED by the last day of January each year.Because of delay in the postal process,a slight delay is normal.

Ok, thanks. We have moved. Will the P.O. not forward tax documents to our new address?

I'll wait another couple days, and then I guess I have to suck it up and contact them, ugh.

I just did min through Turbotax ONLINE. They said I would get my federal refund in 9 days. I owed for my 2 states.

Is your forwarding order still valid? Some PO's will only forward for 6 mos.

YMMV

Yes, still valid. It's been less than 6 months since we moved and also we're still receiving other forwarded mail. I take it that means that the W2's should be forwarded if they were sent?

I'm not sure if the post office forwards W-2s.

I had my w2 from my first employer forwarded to me last week... we moved in Jan 2007 and I had no problem getting it... it was marked on the outside of the envelope "IMPORTANT TAX DOCUMENT ENCLOSED"...
