What will happen next?

So I got my NOA2 and case number and the status says ready. I'm wondering what will happen next. Specifically for Islamabad. I know the embassy should email my fiance the packet 3 and he will send back the forms. But does he schedule the interview or does the embassy schedule it? How long after sending the packet does it usually take to hear back from them? What about the medical?

I'm just hoping that this will go by fairly quickly and he can be here soon.

When uscis approve case then they forward to NVC, it's take 2 weeks for reaching to them then NVC take 1 week to forward case to islamabad embassy then embassy send email to petitioner (3.5 packet), after that applicant need to send documents to embassy, embassy will take 1 to 4 weeks to send applicant interview appointment letter (packet 4), after getting appointment letter, applicant need to book medical & take medical with himself to embassy on interview date, when ur interview will approve then ur case will change from immigrant to Non-immigrant & from ready to AP then from AP to issue, embassy will send u passport within 10 working days after approving ur interview :-)

Do I have to wait for the email from embassy or can my fiance go ahead and send the paperwork? They are taking long time to send my fiance the email for packet 3.5. I emailed them already but still nothing happened.

There is definitely no harm in getting the paperwork ready now. I'm pretty sure he has to to wait for them to request it before sending it, though. And honestly, I would wait for them to request it to limit any chances of it getting misplaced in a pile at the embassy if he sends it beforehand. Have him get it ready now so he can send it as soon as packet 3.5 comes. (Will come via email)

Like the other person said, once you have the interview date, he can schedule his medical at an approved location.

For us, we got packet 3.5 the day after the embassy got our paperwork from NVC, and the appointment letter came one solid month after they received the 3.5 paperwork from my fiance.

Hang in there -- you're getting close!

Thanks! Yeah he does have all the paperwork ready to go. I'm just wondering why they haven't sent the email yet. Do you think it might be because we didn't finish filling out the DS160? I know it's getting close but at the same time I'm soooo wanting things to keep progressing.

We didn't do the DS-160 until after we got the packet, so don't worry. :)

It sucks but you just have to hang in there. There's zero consistency to the process person to person. I'm sure you will get it soon.

My status is hung up right now, too, so it seems the Embassy may be extra busy lately.
