How long does it take for the cambodian embassy to receive the case from nvc from the time Noa2 is received? I like to know so I can take time off work to help my fiance with paperwork and collect appropriate documents since she speak very little English. Second question: From noa2 until the fiance interview how long does it take? 3 months?

Thx a bunch!

It takes around a month for the embassy to receive your information after you receive the NOA2 notification. You can call NVC and ask if they received your case. If so they can give you your case number to use when contacting the embassy. With the current procedure the only thing the embassy needs to schedule your interview after receiving your case from NVC is form DS-160, which you submit online and then email the confirmation page to the embassy. Most of the info on DS-160 is stuff you already included on the I-129F, so it shouldnt take too long to fill out.

After you submit DS 160 it will probably be about 3 months before your interview.

A week or 2 after they process the DS 160 the embassy will list your interview date/time on here:

Your case is K-1 so it should be immediate like within few weeks. IR-1 takes a lot longer after case completes at NVC(For Cambodia only). I went through both process so I know. My K-1 case NVC sent the package to US Embassy within a week back in 2011 and got the interview date within a month. So whole process from applying to interview took like little over 7 months. But later on IR-1 case after everything completed at NVC, they did not send case to Embassy for like 5 months!! This was in 2013. Repeated phone calls to them NVC blamed on US Embassy. Kept telling me waiting for interview date available. When kept sending email to US Embassy they kept telling me waiting for case to arrive from NVC!! I was kept forwarding NVC email reply to me to US Embassy in Cambodia and email reply to me from US Embassy to NVC without any success. So from applying to interview date was like 16 months for IR-1 visa. Again every country is different and also depend on how many people are applying and time of the year.

So far I only got noa1. Basically I'm looking at 7-9 more months until interview date. I had always thought k1 takes less than a year.

No not necessary. Also be warn that you will be scrutinize much more than a CR-1 visa (spousal sponorship).

So be prepared to be to have plenty of evidence.

Thank you,

IR-1 and CR-1 basically same procedure same timeline specially in Cambodia. It works exactly same. Only difference is CR-1 you have to remove condition on your green card after 2 years which is I am about to file next month. I am sorry my case was CR-1. It's everything identical process. IR-1 you get green card for 10 years and CR-1 you get a conditional green card for 2 years then you have to remove conditions.

Wow your I-130 approved in 29 days! That was super fast! Mine took 8 months back in 2012 from same service center. But after NVC procedure completed, it took like another 6 months to get interview date. Some people now waiting like 4/5 months. Your case completed less then a month ago. Unless you get lucky again, you are looking at 5 to 8 months for interview date. Mine took total process about 17 months in 2012/2013
