Hello,

Congratulations !! Not sure what do you mean by other stuff but you can proactively start doing things that you know will be needed. If police clearance is needed and you know interviews are scheduled fast in London, that can be obtained (just an example). The interview letter and subsequent requirements will come soon. So find out what you need and what you can obtain now.

Good luck.

Start by reading the instructions the London embassy gives you http://london.usembassy.gov/iv/fiance_instructions.html

There is a link to documents required. NOA2 is NOT ever needed in the United Kingdom. It should remain safely in the US so it can be used for your adjustment of status.

You pick your medical appointment date/time based on what they have open. I am guessing you have already done your immunizations and have a printout from your GP since you said you are totally ready. And have the I-134 and documentation in hand?

I can tell you are nervous, but go back to what is written on the London webpage: http://london.usembassy.gov/iv/fiance_instructions.html

"You should only complete these steps if you have received notification from the Embassy confirming that your case file has been received in the Immigrant Visa Unit in London."

That means don't do any application or medical until you get a letter from London.

"Please note that the interview will not be scheduled until you have completed Steps 1 - 4 and the Immigrant Visa Unit is in receipt of the medical examination."

That answers your question that until you complete Steps 1-4 you will not get an interview. Just doing Step 1 (DS-160) will not generate an interview. This in Step 4 should clarify that too.

"Your application will take up to 6 weeks to process at the end of which, you will be notified of the date of the appointment for the visa interview."

You may not know your date until six weeks after you have done all four steps.

After the Steps, it says:

"The Interview

You will receive an appointment letter approximately 4 weeks before your scheduled interview date. The letter will confirm the date and time of your visa interview and provide instructions on registering for the courier service and paying the MRV application fee."

It says right there that the interview letter will tell you how to pay for the visa and schedule the courier. So interview letter is received before you pay.

Print out their web page and read it several times. Mark off the steps as you do them. That might make you feel more confident.

They have. But you are nervous and cautious so you probably want to follow the written rules provided by London. You are so cautious, you insist on bringing the NOA2, even though London does not list that. And if you read the 600 or so reviews of London interviews, you will not find one that says "oops, I didn't have my NOA2 so got sent away." They have your entire petition file in front of them including that it was approved.

I understand. I have bound folder for each process with an exact photocopy of what was sent, including the check and postal tracking, and all NOAs. But you don't need to lug that to London. The only thing I don't have are the visa application forms (which were paper at the time) because my husband did those and they never got here in the move. I even have a spreadsheet documenting every penny we spent on immigration related things. Required fees, mailing fees, coach fare to London, hotel in London, courier, shipping 20+ boxes to US....all the way to his US passport after he became a citizen.

That means don't do any application or medical until you get a letter from London.

I thought once you have your London number from NVC you can schedule the medical while you wait for the letter. No? How long does it take at the moment to secure a medical appointment? Would that not give the letter sufficient time to arrive?

It makes life easier to just wait for the letter, but I know some people don't receive "packet 3" aka the letter from London saying their case has arrived. If you have a case number then you can book a medical, but you will need some documentation for the medical that has your case number on. I know Pheebs, a regular on the VJ forums, went to her medical without the letter but she had to take something else I'm pretty sure.

I mentioned this in another forum but I got my medical 1 week after calling, but the next available space was a week later so it seems like it's 1-3 weeks.

That was a quote from the London webpage instructions. That is what they expect you to do, however if you want to mess with their plan, nobody is stopping you. The clinic asks if you have your case number when you call for an appointment. I think they are assuming you got it off your letter from London. so if you can spout off your number, they will give you an appointment. The timing can vary, just like calling for a haircut appointment or anything else depending on how booked up they are. There could be something at the end of next week, but it would be wise to not go next week, but maybe 2 weeks from knowing your LND number via NVC at the earliest.

It's really your choice whether to follow London's plan to the letter or bend the rules a bit.
