We recently were approved for the K-1 visa, and my fiance is wrapping up his businesses there for his move here. He is and will be the main "breadwinner" for our new family. My question is, he will be bringing quite a bit of money with him when he comes here, so is there anything he needs to bring as far as paperwork for customs? I know if it's over 10k they will want to ask questions, we just don't know what questions or what paperwork he may need as proof that the money is legit, etc. Does anyone know or can point us in the right direction?

He will declare that money to POE and the CBP will let him fill out a form and sign. That's it..he can bring like proof where the money came from in case they ask.

Oh ok! Yeah I'll have him bring some proof of where the money comes from just in case. It's been a long year+ waiting for all this, wouldn't want something to happen right at the 1 yard line! Thanks for the response!

He just notes the amount if its over 10k on the in flight form. Proof of origin is a good idea. My husband did this bringing a sizable amount of cash with zero problems. Wiring it is expensive but can be done.

His bank only allows 15k per year to be transferred internationally and the Western Union doesn't allow the sending of funds from Ghana. We will just do the proof of origin and the forms at the POE. Thanks everyone for responding though.
