ok..he asked his sister ..i was curious about the "hijab-as a head cover" if the hat style would work... they all said no since it was just a bit too revealing.. i'm only speaking of the head cover...i'm not speaking hijab in the full form..just the head cover part.... is that a more acceptable description?

Thanks Amal!!! I would wear a scarf with the hat though so my neck would be covered. I see what he's saying if it were just a hat though.

Oh man, now I'm having flashbacks to my college hijabi days, before I had to dress all business like for the law office.

My favorite hijab was my oscar the grouch hat, paired with a turtleneck. I pulled it down pretty far and paired it with earrings. I'm def going to have to dig around for this hat and rock out this weekend!

Mine didn't have pon poms on the top though.

I like the Kuala Lumpur fashioned cap styles Doodle posted, more of the style I wear. And even thout the Turkis scarfs have fab patterns, I donnot think the style of fixing them are in any unique. I think they make the head look bigger, the babbuska style.

I prefer the cap style and the pharoah styles.

My problem with hijeb is I cannot seem to get them to stay on without twisting and turning, unless I use about 25 boddy pins and hijeb pins  Maybe cos of the style I wear, but cos I am just really apt with things like this.

Also I know, since I do this, but wearing multiple scarfs (for fasion purposes I guess) I get either too hot or I cannot breathe, my neck get stiff.

Hijeb Fashion Ideas:

Wearing a beeny hat over a plain black hijab in the winter gives a funky effect.

Wearing two scarfs over each other. A very light patterned see through one other a plainer coloured one. Interesting effect

Plain coloured hijab (with sparkly bits) and a pin a large flower clip to the hijab just above the ear area.

A snood or beret (my wintertime favs)

Hijeb Wrap

Tznuis, a modest jewishh site offering hijeb styles

Headcovers

Basic Hijeb instructions

..

I have hijeb styles on my pc, I will post them in abit.

Do you use underscarves Henia? That stops the slippage on mine.

I want one of every color. Too bad I don't have a spair $88 lying around. I hope they're still in style when I make it back to egypt, cuz I'm seriously bringing an empty bag just to stuff with scarves and clothes.

I do and I don't you know. In the summer of course not. But most I find in the shoppes where I live are too tight. Or maybe my head is too big?! I am not sure. I found some in Algerie which work great, but the prob is they never have colour selection.

Also there is a big variation between women wearing the hijeb right under the jowl of the neck and others who cover the jowl. For me, in the winter I cover, in the winter no...but if I had a double chin then of course I would cover:lol:

Just checked the site Rahma, wow love it! Unfortunately I donnot have $88 either. But I saved the site to my favs and try to invest in them after this whole INS thing is over with. But another ques, does any here wear niqaab, gloves or arm gauntlets? Plz speak up!

I wear arm guantlets when I run, cuz I wear a short sleeve running shirt. I also wear them when I have a wide sleeved abaya, or a short sleeve or 3/4 length sleeve shirt. All my guantlets come from al muminat, and are the extra long variety.
