unique hijab

Since it's so cold today I thought I'd experiment a little by using my scarf as a hijab and looking for people's reactions. Suprisingly enough, each man that I dealt with outside actually talked to me and was super nice................normally they'd be nice I guess but they wouldn't really talk. For example, one guy opened a door for me and said, "here you go".

Anyway it got me to think, hmmmmmmm.....all the hijaabs I see out there are scarves. Why doesn't someone invent a more unique way to cover? Like maybe a hat and scarf, which would serve the purpose but would look more different.

Has anyone seen this?

Here's one example that I found:

these women are thinking outside the box!

I've seen some Muslim women at my school wearing hooded sweatshirts, with the hoods up and tied. I think its cool for them to explore different ways of being modest, and I think it kind of sends the message to others that Muslims can be integrated in American society, while practicing their religion. :)

I see that a lot here too working at the college I'm at right now. I also see women with baseball caps on and a scarf and I wonder if they are muslim or not. That would be kind of cool to wear a red sox cap and a red scarf. lol

We have some close family friends that are Muslim, the daughters don't cover up but the mom does. She doesn't use a hijab though, she has a variety of different hats she wears that cover her whole head, or she will wrap a scarf around her hair almost like a turban but cuter. She dresses really conservative so it ends up being the same result. What I really like about her is that she finds a way to incorporate it with her clothing and style.

There are plenty of unique ways to use a scarf. My current favorite style is to use a cotton underscarf, and then take a shayla in a contrasting color, about 1/4 back on my head. I tie it in a bun in back, and then pair it with earrings and a turtleneck.

The turks definately have the corner on the cool scarf market

They insert a little plastic rim at the fold in the scarf, and sometimes starch it.

Meh, none of the scarve are really hijab. Hijab is your attitude, the way you carry yourself, how you interact with people. A way of dress is just one part of hijab :) Putting a scarf on one's head doesn't necessary mean that you're observing hijab.

Double sided sticky tape---or toupe tape always works best for me...its sticks to anything and it is cheap!!!

ok..he asked his sister ..i was curious about the "hijab-as a head cover" if the hat style would work... they all said no since it was just a bit too revealing.. i'm only speaking of the head cover...i'm not speaking hijab in the full form..just the head cover part.... is that a more acceptable description?
