What difference does it make? Were they not the alleged representatives of their church at the time they commited their crimes? Did they not use their position inside their religoius corporation to yield power over the weak? In that sense they are no different or less debased than ISIS's members. You can't use moral relativism to mitigate the undeniable truth.

I don't think that we should justify terrorism, no matter what religion criminals profess as being their sponsor. As recorded in history, Nazis, KKK, white supremacists, WBC, the IRA and others have found justification on their faith to back their claims they were acting inline with some made up deity's will.

The usuriping and misappropriation of religion we see today with ISIS is not something that is exclusive to Islam, nor was it invented by Muslims. Certainly, that does not make their crimes less despicable.
