With the move and finances exhausted to a point. I'm bored just being home and not being able to do anything. I wanna start school but limited finances as the wife has her fair share of the financial burden and the difference in educational system. I'm from the caribbean and we don't have to do SAT's or anything like that to get into college. Plus the whole thing about qualifying for financial aid and what nots. Any advice on how to go about school *sigh* or any certificate program I can join that won't cost an arm and a leg.

I would look at some community colleges in your area. It is a cheaper option than big universities. I know the one close to were I am from has a lot of international students. Usually they're two year programs, than you can transfer into a University and youre credits will transfer over. I'm not too sure, but I think you may still need to take the SATs to get into community college. There are alot of free webistes to help prepare for the SATs. They may help brush up on some things you might be rusty at or just get a feel for what to expect with the SATs. Good luck! Oh also there are work-study programs that can help you pay for tuition, so you work for the university and they help cover your tuition.

Off the top of my head, I don't believe that you'll probably qualify for any federal financial aid before you become a LPR. https://studentaid.ed.gov/eligibility/non-us-citizens

Community college is a really good option. They are usually required to admit students who have a high school diploma or GED (SATs not needed). For about $6000 including books and supplies, my husband has almost finished his education and is already part time employed in that field with plenty of full time work whenever he is not in classes and as soon as he is finished.
