We got I-797 with a number but we don't know what to do now

Hello I am a Permanent Resident of Canada..I have never been to the United states. my husband is a citizen of the united states of america by birth... I met my husband in Canada..and we got married. on Dec 2012..My husband have been travelling to see me from 2012 because we didn't know what to do in terms of filing forms.but found out last year and now My husband has sent in a petition form I-130 for me and my 10 year old son in Oct 2014, my husband received a Form I-797 with a LIN number saying the petition has been received and we can check the status of the case online. we filed on our own without the help of an attorney what do we do now we are both afraid...Can someone please help....Thank you

my husband is doing the affidavit of support now and my husband has two other children who doesn't live with him..he did his taxes for all recent three years and has enough to meet the 125% for a house hold of 3 but if we include his other children we won't meet it... what should we do?

Assuming the kids are minors, yes, he needs to list them.

Does he have any assets (savings,401k, second home etc) he can list to make up the difference?

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.
