I didn't watch it. It sickens me. I did see the video of the Islamic state crowds cheering while they were shown the video (which was blurred out for secondary viewers).

People need to understand the barbarianism of the Islamic State. Of course Obama and many lefties say they are not Islamic. There's that denial again.

no one is denying that these people are claiming a particular religion.

good for you not watching the video. me personally - i wouldn't watch either. BOTH are propaganda at face value.

i found this video series very enlightening. https://news.vice.com/video/the-islamic-state-part-1

True. Obama and anyone who received a good education and who can read, draw conclusions and understand history will categorically state and prove the Islamic State is as Islamic as the Holy Roman Empire is holy.

It's not all that complicated.

No, I just think that people who watch someone burning alive on a giant screen TV and are cheering have issues, regardless of where they are from and what religion they practice.

It's a mob mentality. People tend to get swept up in what's going on around them. Emotions are contagious.

Perhaps they were forced to watch, but if not, they could have walked away. Free will.

That's not what I mean. Most likely this was an act of defiance against what they perceive to be a world that has be against them their whole lives. Maybe, who knows? The point is, the "people in the crowd" are not all murders as we perceive them in our society. Many are likely normal people disenfranchised with their life and caught up in a perceived struggle against the evil powers responsible for their daily strife.

I don't think people here in the US who enjoy watching beheading videos are normal either, but I'm sure many do. I understand your point though.

Look at the other thread on white Americans turning up en masse to watch black men being burned alive. That didn't happen all that long ago either.

When videos were circulated of people in North Korea bawling their eyes out at the death of Kim Jong Il, was there anyone here who thought that any of those people were genuinely upset about it? Most people I think accepted the idea that North Koreans were acting that way out of fear because not being seen to show grief would be perceived as a sign of rebelliousness.

You have to ask what is different about people living under IS that makes people here readily assume that everyone is in lockstep with the IS leadership.

I'm not going to say it, but you can read between the lines...
