I became a USC through one of my parents, who was naturalized soon after i arrived, cause i was under 18 when i entered the US. i've nevered applied for a certificate of citizenship with my name of it but i have a valid US passport that says i'm a citizen so can i used that as proof of citizenship to file for my fiancé or do i also need to get a certificate in my own name?.

Also if i send in my petition now i will be at the TSC but i'm moving in MAY to Wisconsin which is CSC..i already have my address in Wisconsin and everything.should i wait till i move to file my petition or would they transfer my case after i move? Thanks

Send it now, they will do what they need to do. You will file a change of address form when you move. Not an issue.

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

Okay thanks so much cause when I asked USCIS they told me to just go by what the form says and if it's needed they will send an RFE but i didn't want to have to wait much longer

Hi,

You will be fine with the US Passport. My fiance has similar history and only has a US passport. K1 Visa application is on its way to embassy ;-) So no worries about it.

Later when you do AOS, you just have to pick the right option on the form and provide your parents number.

Good luck!

HI,

I have a passport that expires in 2018. the instructions say it need to have validity for 5 years. Does that mean I need to renew my passport now? Seems obvious I need to do that but wanted to make sure I do and if I can since it is still valid. Thank you.

The instructions say you need a validity PERIOD of at least 5 years. The validity period is from ISSUE date to EXPIRATION date. If your passport was issued in 2008 and expires in 2018, then your validity period is 10 years.

It does not mean your passport needs to be valid for 5 more years.
