Should I receive an NOA1 after filing I-130 DCF in person at USCIS?

Hi everyone. I filed an I-130 DCF in person at USCIS in Bangkok 8 days ago but so far I have not heard anything back from the USCIS. They have my mailing address and mobile number but no word has come to either.

When I filed the I-130, the officer said that I will hear back from them in a month which seemed unusual since nearly everyone on VJ has received an NOA1 within a few days after filing by either mail or text or both.

My question is that since I filed DCF in person, will I actually receive any NOA1 or will they just skip to the NOA2?

No. the month duration is to approve the I-130,

so you'll hear back after it's approved.

do not expect any NOA-1, receipt notice,

as

USCIS offices abroad do not use a receipt number for tracking (to the best of my knowledge)

There MAY be a casefile # assigned on approval day, but even then, that's useless for you, as the casefile will be walked over to the IV Unit after I-130 approval.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Thanks Darnell. I guess I will just wait to hear back from them after approval.

My husband filed his CR-1 petition for me through Frankfurt DCF (in person) and we didn't get an NOA1. We just received the notice of approval letter and case number in the mail about a month after our visit, along with instructions for the next step (online visa application, medical etc). Frankfurt is pretty quick, not sure about Bangkok though!

Good luck and hope you get your approval soon!
