Hi Everyone...

Something weird happened to me recently....when I sent off the Choice of Agent for the I-130 I designated my lawyer. After my K3 was approved I called NVC and asked where my paperwork for the K3 would be sent. They said the Choice of Agent was ONLY for the I-130 and everything from the embassy for the K3 would be sent to my husband directly.

After about one week of waiting for the the K3 info from the embassy I called and was told Packet 3 had been sent to my Choice of Agent--my lawyer.

sooooooooo...for all of you who were confused, be aware that, at least in my case, everything for BOTH visas is sent to the Choice of Agent....

Our timeline...

I-130/CR-1

10/7-12/29/05: NOA 1+2

8/10/06: case received in Frankfurt--get letter asking for more info

think we'll adjust in the states...

K3

2/7/06: NOA 2

4/24/06: Interview in Copenhagen

5/17/06: Sent additional info. requested

8/9/06: e-mail from embassy that they are ready to issue visa

8/23/06: visa in hand

Debbie,

Did you also submit DS-230 and I-864 to the NVC to begin an immigrant visa application?

If not, the consulate may recognize your lawyer as your agent because of the work on the petition, not because you sent a Choice of Agent form to the NVC in connection with the I-130. If you didn't start the immigrant visa process, and the NVC hasn't forwarded that case on to the consulate, the consulate may be unaware of the Choice of Agent form you sent to the NVC.

Or one other thought - did your husband by any chance return the Choice of Agent form to the consulate rather than to the NVC?
