I am a USC, the fiance is Irish. We met in China and have lived here since then (about 3.5 years).

On the I-129 it asks for mailing addresses--does this mean my/his home address, our actual living address right now, or our current mailing address (we always use my work address for mail). Is this address used to mail things back to us, or do they need to know residence?

Under "info about fiance" it also asks for his address abroad. Does that mean his "permanent residence" in Ireland, or our residence here in Beijing?

Also, on the G325a it asks for "applicant's last address outside the US for more than 1 year". That's easy for me to fill out, but is it the same for him? Like, he's never lived INside the US, so...his last address here in China?

I really don't want to screw up and I REALLY don't want to pay a lawyer to help me figure out our own addresses. Any help?

(also, any tips for overseas met/living couples?)

We both met and live in Dubai and have for about 5 years for me and 6 years for her. Our interview was yesterday and we are confused if approved or not as the interviewer was very nasty and didn't say anything but did keep passport and set a date and time for pickup. Anyway below is how I handled the I129F and G325a and USCIS approval was without incident and no questions about this at interview.

I-129F:

  • For Question 2 for petitioner I put my permanent US address and noted in line 2a to "See Also Supplement Attached".
  • I attached a supplement titled "I-129F Supplement: Part 1, Question 2 a-i Mailing Address" and in the supplement I stated that my legal US residence was xxx and that my address in Dubai where I could receive mail was xxx, and the phone I am reachable at in Dubai and signed and dated it. By the way I receive all mail here at my work address, as do most people.
  • For Question 3 for the beneficiary I put "See Supplement Attached" in line 3a
  • I attached a supplement titled "I-129F Supplement: Part 2, Question 3 a-i Mailing Address" and put her work address in Dubai and Dubai phone. Again signed and dated by her
  • For Fiance address abroad I again said see supplement Q 29 & 30
  • I attached a supplement titled "I-129F Supplement: Part 2, Question 29 a-f Address Abroad & 30 Daytime Phone" And stated that she was currently living in Dubai and gave our residence address here and her phone here

G-325a (Petitioner)

  • For the addresses for the last 5 years I put my permanent US address and noted on the line below to see supplement attached
  • I attached a supplement titled "G-325A Supplement Address Last 5 years" and put the same information as I did in the supplement for the I-129F.

G-325a (Benificiary)

  • We filled in her last Philippine address and the 2 addresses she has lived here in Dubai and dates. We did cover more that 5 years.
  • For address outside the US we used our current address here which covered a little more than 2 years.

I hope that above is clear. I may have overdone it but, like you, I wanted to do it right and try to prevent any confusion.

I also wanted to say I have maintained my home in the US, bank accounts etc. for all the time I've been here, I also draw a W-2 salary on my US employer. For her she doesn't really have a permanent address in the Philippines but sometimes uses her mothers address.

If you want you can PM me and I will try to strip out the private info and send you copies of the supplements mentioned.
