Application Table of Contents + Summary

Hi All,

I'm planning putting an "Application Summary + Urgency" point on my cover letter. Would this be okay and could you imagine it being helpful?

And below it is pasted as well. Take particular notice to the "Application Summary + Urgency" section. Do you think that would help? Note: I'm submitting THREE of these I-130 forms. One for my wife, and for each of my step kids.

Petitioner: NAME
Beneficiary: STEP-SON NAME

Table of Contents

1. Check for $420 Application Fee

2. I-130 Petition for Alien Relative: STEP SON NAME

3. Birth Certificate: PETITIONER NAME

4. Passport: PETITIONER NAME

5. Marriage Certificate: PETITIONER AND MOTHER OF STEPSON

6. Divorce Order: WIFE OF PETITIONER (divorce with ex-husband)

7. Divorce Certificate: WIFE OF PETITIONER (divorce with ex-husband)

8. Birth Certificate: STEP SON

I, PETITIONER, am petitioning for my stepson, STEP SON. I married his mother (NAME) in September 2013, and have lived with them since 2010 in Australia. NAME and I are having our first baby together in March 2015 and will be filing for CRPA (consular report of birth abroad) afterwards.

My mother, who lives in LOCATION, has been diagnosed with cancer and is going through multiple surgeries. We are very hopeful and at the same time are eager to begin the next chapter of our life in America and share the grand children with my parents. They intend on providing an affidavit of support during the next stage of the Visa process.

Application for I-130

An I-130 is a petition form that is filed, not something that is applied for. If you want to have this heading, then it should read something to the effect of "Petition for (name of beneficiary)"

This in of itself will not be helpful. The better route to take would be to formally request an expedite after your file is received.

I know you followed my example but Ryan is right. It is indeed a petition as opposed to an application. I don't think it would make any difference on the receiving end but it is always helpful to be as accurate with our wording as possible! As I said on my other post to you, make it EASY for the person receiving it. You want them to open it and feel relieved that it is so well assembled!

For the titling, should I do it as ""Petition for Step-Son Name" in large letters at the top, or would you recommend adding "I-130" to it as well: "Petition for Step-Son Name for I-130"

Haha, perhaps I am Ms. Hogan! The good news is though that more often than not, this sort of over-thinking has lead me to positive results in all my life more often than not.

Ms. Hogan: perhaps this comes under your idea of over-thinking, but might you have an answer to this other post I made in the forum here? http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/534966-sending-the-i-130-package-box-envelopes-does-it-matter/

I would love to get your opinion.
