Hi everyone! I hope you've all been well. I'm planning on (finally) changing my last name to my husband's last name. I was planning on just doing that now since I am filing to get the conditions removed from my conditional green card. Do you guys have any tips on that? Like just mentioning my maiden name and noting the change in last name?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I would strongly advise you AGAINST changing your last name to husband's.

I have typed the reasons several times before in various threads.

Think logically with your brain rather than with your heart.

An update on my case -

My AOS was finally approved on 5/22/17 (840 days after initial filing)

My category was backlogged and USCIS only resumed processing my case this January.

As a frequent traveller, I'm so glad that I can finally stop going into secondary for stamping, as is required when traveling with Advance Parole. I'm applying for Global Entry to hopefully skip the lines at all.

Best of luck to everyone for your Removal of Conditions/Citizenship applications!!!

You may file Form N-400 ninety (90) calendar days before you complete your permanent residence requirement if your eligibility for naturalization is based upon being a: Permanent resident for at least 5 years; or. Permanent resident for at least 3 years if you are married to a US citizen.
The eligibility criteria require that you have been a permanent resident for at least a certain amount of time before submitting your N-400. For most people, that’s five years after receiving a green card. However, the alien spouse of a U.S. citizen can apply to naturalize three years after having received the green card.
Note:  It is NOT three years after marriage; rather three years after date green card issued, if you have been married to US Citizen for at least those three years.  You do not need to have obtained your green card through this marriage.

Good news.

How does being in military affect time rules regarding 3 years married to US citizen, etc.?

Wanted to update you all! After 3 long years, my application to remove the conditions on my green card was approved on May 24, 2019. Received my green card a day later. I also applied for naturalization in April 2017, and my oat ceremony has been scheduled for June 10, woohoo! What helped with both applications was to reach out to my state senator, and ask them to submit an inquiry on my behalf (because everything was moving way too slowly).

Good luck to those still on their journey!

Because original participants in this thread have almost certainly long since passed the AOS stage, this thread is now closed.  Good luck to everybody at your future stages, and congratulations to naturalized citizens.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
