You don't get a new ssn you keep the same one from daca your just changing your status not your number

DACA ST cards have a big red line that says "Valid for work authorization only" Once adjusted to PR status you get one that does not have this. One cannot join the military until one has the new card. I called and spoke with a SO officer and was told we must wait until the GC arrives and then go and order the new ST card.

Always some confusing regarding the wording concerning SS cards.

Each person gets one SS number for life (except criminals who try to obtain false identities and are often successful)

But for those having a SS card with some restrictive wording on it . . . you do get a replacement card without the restrictive wording . . . while maintaining the same SS number.

Has been away for a while and seem that most members of the February 2015 group has already received their GC interview letters and some has their own GC already.... Congratulations!!!!

By the way, I just came from a 3-week short visit to my home country using my EAD/AP combo Card, and I would like to inform you that there was really no problem in using this card to re-enter the USA, I was just told at the port of entry to undergo a secondary inspection to check my Adjustment of Status application into their computer, and after the confirmation they just let me go to my domestic connecting flight.... Hope this helps to those who are planning to travel using their EAD/AP cards.....

I think a lot of people still don't have interviews! Although Leo, I don't think the pre-AOS stuff matters? If it does then I've been living in the US since 2006/2007! Also have a STEM degree, and a Masters from an American Ivey League school. I've been on TN visas, H1Bs, F1s, OPTs, etc. But I assume, true to the ridiculous policy that is immigration, all they care about is the moment that I got married to my opposite-sex "true love" (well until recently). All the actual useful background that helped the US economy grow don't matter at all to them. Smart immigration policy!!

I was in the same boat as you were....it was annoying and frustrating my employer field for my green card 2010 and it would have taken me 2 more years atleast to get the EAD so that makes it 7 years of wait . I am thankful that my partner happened to hold the US passport and it worked out for us.

I was in the same boat as you were....it was annoying and frustrating my employer field for my green card 2010 and it would have taken me 2 more years atleast to get the EAD so that makes it 7 years of wait . I am thankful that my partner happened to hold the US passport and it worked out for us.

I was just referring to our date of original filing in Chicago.

I was the first to file in February (at least for those who are posting here.)

And probably we (my spouse) will be last from February group to ever get the Green Card.

So let's hear no complaints from you 'late' filers !! :-)

As employment update, my spouse continues employment at university as adjunct instructor, but now under the EAD card. Before she was instructor under OPT.

Her teaching assignment for Fall 2015 is one section of Calculus 2 and one section of Multivariable Calculus.

Just looking at the first pages of the books gives me a sick feeling in my stomach. I never progressed beyond Y = a + bX in my math learning..

Sorry if this is a repeat question - but people with MSC still have MSC? I'm nervous that it hasn't been "switched" to one of the normal centres, and that the USCIS website still doesn't show processing time for MSC. I also got nervous because I actually did receive my travel authorization along with my EAD, but on the website it still says my travel authorization is being processed. I haven't worried about it until today... since I do have my EAD/travel card... but now I'm nervous that my entire application might for some reason be messed up in the database? Maybe it being still with MSC is a mistake?

Also to add to my confusion, the VisaJourney processing time doesn't include MSC, but then on the Receipt Number Help page it says MSC is the Missouri Service Centre - http://www.visajourney.com/content/uscis-receipt-number But the general internet tells me it is the National Benefits Centre.

ShubhaBala, you are in same situation as everyone on this sub-forum.

That is, presuming you are AOS from a Tourist, Student or Work Visa due to marriage to a US Citizen.

All in that category send their initial paperwork to Chicago.

Then Chicago ships to MSC in Missouri.

The MSC does initial processing and sends RFE's if they see something missing.

MSC produces and sends out all EAD/AP cards.

At some point, MSC ships your packet to your local field office . . . not one of the other processing centers in Vermont, Texas, Nebraska or California.

In your case, your local field office is Brooklyn.

So at this point, your life is in the hands of the Brooklyn office, not MSC.

Nothing shows up on USCIS website indicating records transferred to local offices, but they are.

You can check processing time for Brooklyn under the Field Office category. But the dates shown are meaningless because they are not updated and don't even match with people on here who actually already got their Green Cards. i.e. The date for City X might say still processing for October 2014 applicants, when someone here from City X already got their Green Card having applied in January 2015.
