Congratulations Philly512.

We sort of have similar timelines for our AOS cases.

You and me got the same interview date and time, just that mine is in El Paso, TX :dancing:

Good luck!!!

hi everybody, it seems like i was a little confused and was following the wrong february 2015 fillers group and somebody guided me to the right one so I'm just going to give a little summary of whats going on.

-february 13 2015: we sent our AOS package

-february 26 2015: received in the mail the NOAs (it took a little longer because of bad weather and post office delays)

-february 27 2015: received biometrics appt for march 13th

-march 13 2015: did biometrics (2 of my fingerprints were rejected by the computer and i was having some anxiety because i wasn't sure if the FBI was gonna be able to work with the other 8 but i guess they did)

-march 30 2015: i received an email from USCIS saying my i485 had changed to interview and even had a date, i was surprised because I've always heard about them saying its ready to be schedule for interview and then giving you the date.

-march 31 2015: received the NOA for the interview, April 30th at 1:15pm

and thats all i have for you, my EAD and AP status haven't change at all but my timeline says they should change in the next few weeks, i did some research since i thought they always did the work permit first but it looks like it happens that they schedule interview even before that, it all depends on how busy you office is and i guess I'm just lucky

I just wanted to share this information in the event anyone was wondering about their EAD application like us:

We called USCIS and they informed us that it takes 90 days for most EAD applications - you can check the status and query the case if you haven't received an update by day 75.

For our I-485, very disappointed to hear that processing times for Dallas, Texas are currently at April 2014 - yikes nearly one full year of waiting! :clock:

USCIS phone system has dramatically improved since I completed my AOS in 2008 - we spoke to a really helpful representative!

Danni, the info you got either from a website or from phone conversation is not correct.

Here is some info I posted last week, repeated here.

= = = = = = = =

Most of you are probably aware that there is a place on USCIS website where you can get info on USCIS Processing Times.

This website shows (for each field office) the filing date for last case completed.

I just did a little checking and noticed this:

For Houston, it shows 7 July 2014 as filing date for last case completed. Doesn't sound too promising.

However, here is some more info.

First, the website has not been updated since 31 January 2015. Apparently the update guy/gal is on vacation.

But looking at Pittsburgh, the last update was also 31 January 2015, so apparently the guy/gal there is on vacation with the Houston guy/gal.

Updating the Houston schedule for end of March (2 months) might say something like: Last case completed was filed 7 September 2014.

Second, we know that our member Obanla has his interview scheduled for 22 April 2015.

And we know that in many cases, approval is granted on-the-spot or within a few days thereafter.

Now, let's update the Houston site again for end of April, and it might say that last case completed was filed 7 October 2014.

But, as we hope for Obanla, his case will be approved and completed by the end of April, compared to his filing date of early February 2015.

Conclusion: It seems unlikely that the last case completed for Houston office was really one that was filed on 7 July, 7 September or 7 October of 2014.

Thanks for the info Leo. As I mentioned the information was from a phone conversation with USCIS this afternoon not a website. Pity they are handing out false information regarding the timelines. I suppose they can only furnish the worst case scenario or something like that.

The 90 day - 75 day query on the EAD card is accurate though.

Hey guys, yet another question for you all: I am getting my husband's grandparents to be our joint sponsor. However, am I correct in saying that only one person can be named the sponsor (as opposed to putting down a couple)?

Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question. I want to make sure they do everything correctly. Thank you!

And Danni: doesn't surprise me that they are handing out false info. :/

Yes, I think that is the key.

There is a definite plan to have us think the waiting period is a year or so; and then

we will be ecstatic when we get green card in 5-6 months.

Not necessarily a bad plan, because some will take a year or more.

And, they have a rule of some sort that they 'must' get us the EAD/AP within 90 days, or

some sort of a bad mark goes against somebody. The rule comes from pretty high up, as I understand it.

It has been discussed on Visa Journey several times in different threads over the years.

Yeah, you have one person (the sponsor) fill out the I-864, and the spouse (if they live together and the spouse's income needs to be added to the sponsor's in order to meet the poverty guidelines) would fill out an I-864A. Note that if one grandparent's income alone is enough then you don't need the other to fill in any forms at all; less paperwork that way. :)

Thank you so much, referdev!! I want to double check and make sure of everything ... trying to make the process as easy as possible for them. Feel bad making them do all this horrid paperwork :(

Hey everyone, just wanted to update you all with my biometrics experience. I went to the USCIS San Francisco office for a 3pm appointment on Friday. I came early (arrived at 2:30pm) and was done in 30 minutes! Apparently for that location, it is best to get an afternoon appointment as it gets really busy in the morning. Glad that went so smoothly :)

When is your app't, Danni?

Hey everyone, just wanted to update you all with my biometrics experience. I went to the USCIS San Francisco office for a 3pm appointment on Friday. I came early (arrived at 2:30pm) and was done in 30 minutes! Apparently for that location, it is best to get an afternoon appointment as it gets really busy in the morning. Glad that went so smoothly :)

Our appointment for bio is April 17th, 10 am!! :)
