I went online to check my cases and I got this incredible surprise:

As of March 31, 2015, we are ready to schedule your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, Receipt Number MSCXXXXXXX, for an interview. We will schedule your interview and send you a notice. Please follow any instructions in the notice.

I can't believe it.

EAD and AP no updates yet.

How long does is it normally take from ready to be scheduled to the interview day?

Successful walk-in for biometrics today! They almost turned me away like Chewy, but told me I had to give them a very good reason for turning up early (which I then did) and let me through. Done and on the way back home in 10 minutes.

Yeah checking daily now and no update has been posted since the initial notice of receipt. Nerve-wrecking!

I only got my appointment letter 3 days ago (3 weeks after acceptance) so it looks like it can vary a lot, not necessarily a bad sign.

That I had to work that day and couldn't request time off with less than 2 weeks notice. They seemed happy with that, I guess they don't expect you to call in "sick" in order to make it.

hi everybody, it seems like i was a little confused and was following the wrong february 2015 fillers group and somebody guided me to the right one so I'm just going to give a little summary of whats going on.

-february 13 2015: we sent our AOS package

-february 26 2015: received in the mail the NOAs (it took a little longer because of bad weather and post office delays)

-february 27 2015: received biometrics appt for march 13th

-march 13 2015: did biometrics (2 of my fingerprints were rejected by the computer and i was having some anxiety because i wasn't sure if the FBI was gonna be able to work with the other 8 but i guess they did)

-march 30 2015: i received an email from USCIS saying my i485 had changed to interview and even had a date, i was surprised because I've always heard about them saying its ready to be schedule for interview and then giving you the date.

-march 31 2015: received the NOA for the interview, April 30th at 1:15pm

and thats all i have for you, my EAD and AP status haven't change at all but my timeline says they should change in the next few weeks, i did some research since i thought they always did the work permit first but it looks like it happens that they schedule interview even before that, it all depends on how busy you office is and i guess I'm just lucky

Welcome to the 'best' group!!

EAD/AP are completed by NBC in Missouri.

A different person (apparently) checks to see if everything in I-130 and I-485 is OK and then sends the file to your local office.

The local office then schedules the interview after (1) someone there does some more checking and (2) they have a time slot available in the future.

So the timelines for EAD/AP and Green Card are not connected

I have a question for you, want to know your opinions since I keep reading mixed things

i have a 9 year old (not bio dayghter of my husband) and we have a 18 month old baby, I dont know what to do for the interview, can I take the kids with us? Or at least the baby, I can ask one of the moms at school to pickup my older daughter from school that day and watch her while he get back home but the baby is what worries me the most, she is not used to staying with anybody else, we dont have family or close friends in town, I may find a baby sitter but I know my child is gonna be crying all the time and to be honest that's gonna stress me more for the interview than having her there, knowing that my child is crying at home could affect my ability to answer the questions they ask but I've read some people saying to not take kids unless they are aplicants

Hmm, hard question to answer honestly. It is probably best not to take the children just because you don't want them to have to sit with you in a strange building for hours. Although, if you think leaving your children at all will impair you interview then perhaps it would be best to bring them. Have you tried calling a USCIS officer to ask their opinion?
