Hi all,

For what it's worth, we submitted my husbands tax returns for 2011, 2012 & 2013 - he had not sent the 2014 taxes at the time I sent the packet.

His income was stable for the past 3 years, and all earned here in US - so maybe more straightforward than Meghan's situation with foreign income? I don't know.

No RFE for us yet. Maybe depends on the officer like Leo suggested?

11/20/12 - Arrive in US under J1 visa (no 2 year HRR)
04/20/13 - We start dating
01/07/15 - We get married <3

02/10/15 - Day 1 - i-485 & i-130 packet received at Chicago Lockbox
02/21/15 - Day 12 - Receive all four NOA1 hard copies

Hello meghan,

If I were you, this is how will I respond to this RFE,

1. At this time, you mentioned that your husband is already working in the US since July 0f 2014, ask him to secure a certificate of employment from his Employer, the letter should include the address of his employer, contact number and his estimated annual income, include this letter when you respond to RFE. Maybe they find the Income Statement of your spouse in the previous years insufficient, enclose a letter that he had worked previously in Canada and explain it well.

2. I will ask your sister in law to be a joint sponsor, file an I-864, to make the process much simple, send all her 2012-2014 tax return copies. I think evidence of proof of assets is much more difficult to prove than getting an sponsor, however it is still depends on how you will take this situation.

Again, this is just my personal view on how will I respond to this RFE, others may have different point of view on this matter....

Hello All,

I just wanted to update you all on the Biometric appointment. We received our notice of action, I-797C for the ASC appointment, on Friday, March 13, 2015. Our appointment date was schedule for March 24, 2015. We took a chance and went early (actually went today) on March 17, 2015 and was allowed to take the biometrics. :-) Happy St. Patrick's Day. The luck of the Irish was with us. :-) So hopefully that actually translates to saving seven (7) days off of processing. Good luck to all of you.

We only received a text when the first set of I-797C was sent. We didn't receive any text notification for the Biometrics. We looked in the mailbox everyday after the first notification. :-) I hope that helps. Good luck to you.

Only after you get your green card could you say that 2014 tax return was not required for your specific case.

Hi guys,

Just got back from a successful early biometrics walk-in! Yay!!!

We arrived at the Jacksonville ASC Office a little bit before 2 pm. The office is under renovation right now, so the entrance was a little confusing. Soon the security guard opened up the door and let me in. No questions asked about the different appointment date and time. There were only 3 people (including me) in the waiting area. Overall, the staff are nice and efficient. When I came back out, it was just before 2:30 pm, so the entire process last roughly 30 minutes.

So glad to have it done! It would have sucked it they turn me down since its a 5 hours drive round trip :P

Hey guys, working on my RFE right now. (I mistakenly didn't submit my own I-864 since we have sponsors who did one)

the RFE says to submit my I-864 and to also provide copies of my "most recent Federal income tax returns and all supporting tax documents (w-2s, 1099s, Form 2555, and tax schedules)"

Would this be my 2014 transcript? Do I need to send my actual W-2s?

Part 3 #1, do I put yes or no? My parents are the joint sponsors. My mother is the only one who filled out a I-864 though.

part 5 #3, do I put 1 here or 0 as he is both my husband and the person I am sponsoring?

part 6 #6.a, do I put his name here?

part 6 #13-14, I am going to include transcripts of my tax returns for the past 3 years just to be safe. should I check box 13, fill out 13.a,b,c, and check 14?

Part 9, do I just put N/A or None here as I prepared it myself?

Perhaps you should buy a lottery ticket before it's too late today.

Well, I had to since I have a very important presentation on the same day as the orignial appointment date, and I live 2.5 hours away from Jacksonville, so there's no way I can do both on the same day.

BTW, around midnight last night, I got email/text notification of RFE...Hopefully there is no other reason than the expected one...
