I am really regretting doing it myself instead of using a lawyer.

This is wrong thinking.

You would be going through the same waiting and stress if you had used a lawyer.

And, it would be worse, because the lawyer would receive all the paper mails and

would be late in telling you what the RFE said (for instance).

You would call and call, leave messages, and the lawyer would not reply.

Then the lawyer would reply, but would confuse your case with another case, and on and on and on.

I agree with Leo; a lawyer wouldn't be any better.

My husband's father was a corporate lawyer, and although I know that is very different from an immigration lawyer, he told me that a lawyer is absolutely not needed for what we all had to file (especially since we are all here legally etc etc).

What better person to do this application than yourself, who cares about the application enormously as opposed to a lawyer who is doing it for a paycheck really.

I also agree with Leo, this is a straight forward process, just read all the instructions available in the uscis website, learn from the experiences of the members from the forum like ours, and you'll be fine. Unless your case is different from others that needs legal advise, I think that's the time that you need the services of Lawyers.

Hi guys,

I recieved an I-797c for each of my packets. Only one of my I-797c forms had a specific instruction. Does this mean that because of the one thing I missed on my application for travel packet that all of my packets are rejected?

The other just say it was rejected with no specific instructions attached to them. If there are no other specific instructions does that mean the rest of the packet is okay?

I received biometrics appointment notice today! The appointment is on 3/25 but I will try early walk-in next Monday

I got my four NOA today. So according to everybody's timeline USCIS is working like a clock. I got my email/text notifications monday so now next step wait for Biometrics and go there.

I been reading that it's possible to do a walk in visit before appointment date and get that done as long as they have time to do it.

How come is that possible? Do they say so in the appointment letter?

No, it won't say in any letter that you can go early.

But people have done it. Most successfully do it, but I have read about a few that are turned away and told to come back at appointed time.

For each individual, the deciding factor is . . . how much time will it take you to travel to the place - round trip plus possible lunch, etc.

Then decide if you can spare that much time if it is wasted.

For wife and I it was a 7 hour round trip. So no way could we risk an early show rejection.

Hey Nick,

From my experience, everything got rejected because of 1 thing (they couldn't find my I-485 check). If only one of the forms had specific instructions then that is probably the only mistake, but do still check on the general forum!

Hey folks,

Just a question, does biometrics appointment has something to do with EAD and AP or it's strictly for I-485 (Green Card).

Question is because I would like to know if people that succeed with early walk in does get EAD and AP in fact early or processing times remains the same for those sets of documents.

That's because I'm in a really need of the EAD (so I could get the SSN and Drivers Lic) and the most important one: AP/Travel Permit to go back to my country for 2 weeks.
