Bad news for me guys!! I just received email notification for RFE regarding my I485. I guess they don't accept my assets, ask my spouse's pay stubs or request for a joint sponsor.

I can't wait to receive the hard copy for details.

They won't count your first automobile since it is needed to get to work, so couldn't be sold to

provide income to live on.

They won't count real estate unless you furnish appraisal report from licensed appraiser.

Other restrictions on what they will count, etc.

I read this on some official government website.

Oh my gosh, I COMPLETELY understand! It is really overwhelming and scary when in the final phase of preparation. The night before I sent the packet off, I thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown! Just try and relax, have a personal checklist handy and make sure your checks are both on the front page to avoid the ridiculous incident I had.

And bear in mind that in a year's time, you'll look back and smile :)

We drove two and half hours to Pittsburgh area this morning for wife's biometrics.

This was to a new building at 777 Penn Center East in Monroeville, PA.

But as you can imagine, there was no such building identified.

We lost a lot of time driving around looking.

Finally saw a group of buildings with numbers like One, Seven, etc.

So I went into building number Seven and immediately saw sign that said

Immigration was on 6th floor.

Went back to car, parked and we went in.

Wife had to produce letter and driver's license, and go through X-ray like at airports.

Then when I started to enter, they wanted to see my DL also.

Stupid me had left billfold in car as it is uncomfortable to sit on it in my trousers.

Wife went on in, while I went back to car to get my DL.

Wife filled out short info form and wanted to check with me about height and weight as

she on metric system and can't get comfortable with our inches and pounds.

As soon as form finished they were ready to take her prints and photo.

I talked with receptionist guy and he said the entire Interview Crew had also been

transferred to this new building.

The photo and fingerprinting unit is on one side of the office space and the Interview

area is on opposite side of the office space separated by the Security Area set-up.

I told the guy there was no identification on the building indentifying it as 777.

He just shrugged his shoulders and said everyone seems to find it. Yeah, after wasting a lot

of time!!

I asked if they had a phone number. He said no, if they gave it out he would be answering

phones all day. Well GEE; that's what a lot of people do.

I asked how many come through each day for fingerprinting and photos.

He said 20 to 60.

I asked if most were from our southern neighbors.

He said, no, the biggest 3 groups were from China, India and Bhutan.

I was surprised at the Bhutan concept, but looked it up later and USA has agreed to

take 60,000 plus as refugees from some sort of ethnic conflict in Bhutan and Nepal.

And apparently a large group will be given housing and help in Pittsburgh area.

After photo and prints done, we walked around to the other side to check the layout of the Interview

area. Seats for around 20 people, but only one person waiting.

One young gal was seated up at one of 4 windows.

She was there after reserving an InfoPass and was trying to get info on her Medical Packet.

The worker gal was telling her how busy the Interviewing Officers were and that she couldn't

just go interrupt her to ask about the Medical Packet, but that she would be sure to give her

the message.

She gave the young gal her email address, but told her not to write more than once or she wouldn't reply.

When the young gal was leaving, I asked her what was the problem with her Medical packet.

She said her physician had forgotten to write her code number on the form.

I don't know if she meant the physician's code or the gal's A code.

Anyway, the gal said how terrible this was, because she had already been to the actual

interview 2 months ago, had been told nothing about this, and now was getting the RFE.

We felt very bad for her.

With lunch break, we were on the road for 7 hours to get fingerprinted and photos in 10 minutes.

I don't want to hear about those of you who drove or walked a couple of blocks to do this !!

Jesus, what a bloody farce. I am so sorry you and your wife had to travel so far for a 10 minute procedure!!! USCIS really are so useless. The least they can do is put a sign on the building identifying it and hire someone dedicated to answering people's questions via the phone. Interesting about Bhutan btw, didn't know there was conflict in Bhutan & Nepal.

Oh well, at least your wife's biometrics are done now. Congrats!

No ...why? should I be worried? It should be just a straightforward process, I believe.

Oh no I didn't mean to worry you. We first met with a lawyer when he received DACA about it. She advised he apply for advanced parole (I-94) and we did that through her. The spousal petition and AOS (I-130 & I-485) I did myself after hearing her fees. I was just curious if you used a lawyer.

They won't count your first automobile since it is needed to get to work, so couldn't be sold to

They won't count real estate unless you furnish appraisal report from licensed appraiser.

Other restrictions on what they will count, etc.

I read this on some official government website.

Yeah but I have multiple vehicles. I think because I've just recently deposited some money into the bank account and USCIS doesn't accept that.

or my spouse just started working and she doesn't make much money.

I guess we better try to find a joint sponsor. I haven't received the RFE yet.

Where in the UK are you from? When I lived in the UK, I was in York (for uni), but lived in Asia previously.
