I am the Petitioner living in the US...Are the photocopies of valid passport is it for proof of residence and evidence for the checklist? bc i was just informed that i will have to get a new passport because i married lastyear and changed my name, he said bc my ID have my new name i should have changed my name on my passport. I just got my passport 2 years ago but the visa center said if i would have got it changed lastyear i would have just applied for name change. So can i send them the copies of the passport i got now or do i wait to send in the new one with name change? The passport that i have now shows evidence of me being there 2 times.

Yes you should be sending in Visa stamps of all your trips proof you went for sure. That is evidence.

It's not a requirement you are the petitioner. Many wives do because of name change. Doesn't mean much. But some do because they got a passport within a year and you can change passport within a year free. That's all that means. It's not a denial or anything like that.

Passport doesn't proof residency just shows you are a citizen is all and the Visa stamps prove you traveled along with your boarding passes is proof of your travels that's what most show as proof you visited.

If you want to show you changed your name to your married name show other things you changed DL, Social security card whatever else you showed. The passport isn't the end all to be all you know.
