ROC Interview - no decision

It's been a long time since my last post. Don't know what to make of our ROC interview experience in the early morning at the Detroit Field Office about 1 week ago. The IO was a young guy, pleasant enough even engaged in small-talk with Lena and me. We were interviewed and asked to present the obvious documents (i.e., lease agreements, last years filed taxes, utility bills in both of our names, auto and health insurance proof, etc.). Further, I presented photos with a span of dates, letters of support from family, friends and our State Representative (Ukrainian). Things seemed to be going smooth and when I thought the interview was concluding, the IO separated us. Interviewed Lena first (25 min.) and then me. Questions were sensible like: address, identify her tattoos, What was for breakfast this morning, Her job hours, mine, name, make of cars, what did we do last weekend, last vacation. When he was done with me, I asked him "what's next", how'd we do? He said things checked out but he could not give us a verbal decision and since he had 6 more interviews on that day and his administrative day was the next day, he would review our case and make a determination. Finally, he said that we could expect a written decision in about 2 weeks or so. Question: was our interview a Stokes and any thoughts would be truly appreciated. Thanks.

My understanding is that most ROC filing do not have an interview, so just to have one was interesting and yes it was Stokes-like.

It was a mini-Stokes, toward the end. Odd, but either the interviewer was young & new and was trying to be thorough, or he was dubious about something that was said or presented. Avoid sweating things too much until the verdict reaches you -- there might be nothing at all to worry about.

If more evidence is requested, I recommend that you compose wills, medical powers of attorney, HIPAA releases, and similar documents. These are outstanding evidence for ROC and are even more valuable to have in "life."

Thanks Baron and TBone! Seemed a bit strange to me as well. Our responses after the "Mini-Stokes" were spot-on. Not to the point that it was rehearsed. The OP did say that we would receive a written decision in approximately 2 weeks, "but if you don't receive a letter, contact the field office. Just have to wait and hope for the best.

It is my understanding that each field office can request a percentage of open I-751's (i.e., 10%, 20%, etc.). However, we did get an RFE after applying for ROC, There were some slight time gaps compared to the documentation we provided.

UPDATE:

Great news from USCIS today by mail. Lena's ROC has been approved! It's been a long and sometime tedious journey since she arrived in 2011. I thank the many RUB contributors who have given us valuable advice over the years. Those of you that are in process, have faith and Godspeed! Thank you!
