Amending taxes...will we get a return?

Hi All!

My husband is a US citizen who has been living abroad in Canada with me since 2010. My son and I have received our IR1 and IR2 visas and are going to POE soon. My husband and I have two children together who have gotten their CRBA's and SSN numbers. When we filed my husbands taxes for 2011, 2012, and 2013 he filed it as MFS (married filing separately). My husband was the only one working in 2012, and 2013. We are now planning to amend his taxes to HOH and claim our children. Will he be entitled to a refund for 2011, 2012, and 2013 for our children even though they were born abroad and only got their SSN's and CRBA's last year (2014)? Also, once my son receives his SSN (the Canadian citizen with visa) will my husband be able to claim him on his taxes for the previous years as well even though he did not have a visa/SSN during those years? Also, what forms do we need?

I hope I've explained this properly! All help is appreciated!

10-23-1014: checklist scan date

12-05-2014: Case Complete
