How can my husband get a visa with criminal record?

My husband just went to see an attorney about his immigration status and they told him he was in deportation status. His visa expired and he never renewed it when he was living in Texas. The lawyer told him he couldn't help him because he has a criminal record (gun charge) in Texas Nd it has to be expunged before I can file out of deportation status. I called an attorney in Texas and they said there was no way he could get it expunged because he did jail time for it. So my question is what can we do to get him started on the process to get a visa? Will he ever be able to get one? He entered America from Jamaica on a work visa Nd got married in 2007 Nd got divorced in 2010. There has to be a way for him to get a visa. Any info will be helpful.

Realistically, when even lawyers, who love to make money and take on any case seemingly, say they cannot help, it seems like a tough case. You might want to also consider moving to where he lives instead as a back-up option.

It would depend upon the precise nature of his conviction(s), but if it involves guns and he went to jail then I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Day 400 (2/7/19) Denial revoked; N-400 approved; oath ceremony set for 2/14/19

Day 407 (2/14/19) Oath ceremony in Dallas, TX
