Mostly because we're complete hypocrites about issues involving sex, and due in part to the fact we hold women to an impossibly high standard. How much grip do you believe a tread about male prostitution would get?

Mostly because the largest segment of consumers for both male and female prostitutes happen to be males. Wimmins just ain't into the paying for sex angle.

I agree it should be legal and regulated. The sticking point is the prevailing view that it is against social morality. An outdated view to be sure, but not one that seems about to change anytime soon.
