Biometrics tomorrow, but one print is calloused. Problem?

I know that even a small cut can cause USCIS to kick back on fingerprints. I don't have that issue. What I do have is that of my 10 prints, 9 are perfect, but one (a thumb) is not quite perfect. There is kind of a flat patch on the print where I injured it at the end of last year and although it's fully "healed", the print is taking forever to pop back through the skin. I'd say it's about 10% of the print, but pretty much right in the middle. I would think that strictly speaking I cannot get a complete print from this. Anybody willing to take a bet on whether this will work? I'm going anyway, as I have to drive my wife, but if they reject me I'll have to reschedule (my official appointment is a day later, but the trip is over an hour each way).

Good luck!

I hope it all works out and they don't have any problems with your prints.

They don't usually reschedule you for this on-site. They will do their best to take the prints, then they will send them off for the FBI background check... if the FBI says that the quality of the prints isn't good enough (for whatever reason), USCIS will send you another biometrics appointment (which could take weeks). The same process will be repeated again. If your prints are unreadable or unacceptable for a second time, they will ask you to get police reports from places you have lived over the past 5 (or 3) years.

That's how it usually works... but if you have a bad cut or something that's going to heal, you can try to talk the ASC people into letting you come in a week later.

Worked out--the guy said my prints looked good. I did have him re-take my thumb but he said that the center was very readable and also the "delta". If you look at a thumb print, to the outside of your hand is a triangular delta shape. The callous was higher up the thumb around the normal lines and though it showed as a larger gray and red-outlined area he thought it would just be brushed off as scarring and not relevant to the accuracy of the print.

Only problem with showing early (day before my appointment) is the guy at the desk said in the past they have lost prints and, if they lose mine, they won't have a record of me having shown up and would presume I had skipped my appointment. I did get a receipt of the event, though, and I suspect it's extremely rare they lose prints in transmission to the FBI.

Security guard, desk guy, finger print guy, all were very pleasant at the Syracuse, NY ASC.

Good luck!
