Yes it's because of weather. Does no one check that?

How do you propose for a person to check that? when it is not listed on their website, and they do not say they are close until you listen to all the recordings on the phone

I check the website again this morning before I call, no listing of closure. I call and had to listen to the recordings before I was told on the phone they was close. So I will really like to know how you expect someone that does not live in that part of the USA to keep track of the weather there

It's on the NVC website at http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/nvc/nvc-contact-information.html-- don't know where other people look, but I have always gotten accurate info here.

It is now, it did not show NVC being close until now . That is the site I check before I call at 6 am my time and other times during the day. A much better way to inform the public need to be in place. That is one of the easiest things NVC could do to help improve things is to have a better way to let the public know you are close for the day. Edited by j&ana

I was up at 2am to call. I can't go and check possibilities as to why they were closed and that information was not on the website. Also that link leads me to a 404 page not found...

I didn't mean you personally sorry if came off that way. I was responding in general. But yes I do think people need to realise and be aware of the weather given the time of year. To say you don't time have time to check is just an excuse, there was more then enough time to get on here and research and post about the topic. As far as proposals how to look at the weather? Weather.com would be a great place start since it's the main story on their page.

I am on this site quite a bit. I got home from work at 1am my time I check NVC site before I went to bed I got up at 530 am check NVC site again. got on visa journey no mention of NVC being close.I did not know they was close until after I call. I use to live in Denver Colorado where sometimes they got a lot of snow and business will close, but not all business. So how is someone that does not live there is suppose to know they are going to be close because of the weather if NVC does not post it on their site and their is no topic about it on visa journey yet. The only way is to call then you have to listen to Spanish and English recordings before you are told they are close. Weather sites does not always list all the business that are close.

Well again I apologize if my original statement offended you. We are all going through the same process so I understand the frustration. I don't think they planned on being closed it was a last minute decision because the storm was far worse than forecasted.

I am sorry if it seem that I am taking my frustrations out on you. It just that I am getting close to the 42 days that they give. I call them last week and right away I was told they are behind because of the weather. They was already behind before they close for the weather. I will rather hear them tell me we are little behind and we are doing what we can to get caught up. Instead of we are behind because of weather not our fault nothing we can do.

I live in NH not far from the NVC, in the last 4 days we have had 2 very big blizzards, and it's still snowing so don't count on NVC being open tomorrow either. The governor has issued a state of emergency, everything is closed.

Hello... (New here) Have also been unsuccessful in reaching the NVC....since December...today...I heard it was another weather related closure.

Why would they, whoever, place such an important office in a blizzard weather sensitive location? Every winter it must be the same.

I will again call tomorrow, yet there is more snow predicted in their area of Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

In December and January I kept getting the busy signal on the NVC phone number...for weeks...PLUS the website was not correctly working...and didn't accept payments..HOW can they be so unprofessional...makes me really worry about how these processes work.

Yes today and last week they have bad weather...sure keep the people home for safety...BUT say the office is closed at the BEGINNING of the call,

NOT after touching all the correct keys and listening to all the messages in BOTH English & Spanish....

Already emailed NVC...three weeks ago.. NOT a word. Emailed Department of State...three weeks ago.... NOT a word..and emailed The White House to ask for support for the supposedly improved Immigration process. Did Obama actually say it will be easier?

" Our immigration system should reward anyone who is willing to work hard and play by the rules. For the sake of our economy and our security, legal immigration should be simple and efficient. After waiting over 500 days for the House to take action on legislative solutions to fix our broken system, the President took the executive actions to help streamline our legal immigration system until Congress passes common-sense, comprehensive immigration reform."......
