I-864 Question Part 6, Question 5 help please

Hi Everyone, thank you again for viewing and helping me with this:

This is regarding my sister's AOS I-864 for as a joint sponsor, what should be indicated on the Part 6 Question number 5 (Current Individual annual income) be?

What she has sent me are:

2013 and 2014 W2's

2013 tax return. (1040)

Which should we base it on? She said she based it on her most recent W2.. but someone also said that what should be put there is the one on the latest ITR which is the 2013 one.. will someone be able to help me on this? I'm afraid of a checklist.

I had confusion over this as well. But the answer to this is what she's made in January 2015 (this year) multiplied by twelve (the months in the year). It's an estimated/projected income for the current year, 2015.

Seems an odd system of estimating to me, but there it is. I guess that's why they ask for up to three past tax returns and current income proof, to actually see the numbers.

I looked at the sample I-864 and it matches the part 6 number 5 of 13a.. Oh this form is so confusing!

My sister gave me her W-2s for 2014, and she added what she made for that one.. would that work? She's a doctor and doesn't work in just one hospital so sometimes her income varies.. it depends on the shift she takes.

Is it safe to put the total of W2's of 2014 (she still doesnt have any tax return 2014) or use the one that's in from the Tax Return of 2013?

I totally understand. As helpful as this site is, there are also so many inconsistencies.

All I can offer is what I've read and felt was the correct way to fill out my form. For current income, I did what I mentioned above: January 2015 income x12.

Maybe someone else can offer you a different answer though, I'm not sure.

Hi TwoChickies! I remember you, you've been helpful since day one when I started doing my I-130 packet.. so your replies are very much appreciated.

Sorry for being like this as I have gotten so many different answers from people and it's very confusing.. but please do know I really am thankful you have replied to my post.. I have already asked the joint sponsor to give me a january paystub so I can compute that.

Oh, please don't worry about it. I am the same way myself! It's too big of a thing to take any risks on. I hope someone else will answer too.
