Dear all, just recently I came across this website in a search for my problem which I assume that I'm not the only one suffering.

I'm a lawful permanent resident and I got married last year overseas, I filed i130 for my wife as soon as we got married and it was received January 2014 and "supposedly being processed" at Vermont center, now it has been over a year that we live apart and the processing time of that center hasn't moved almost at all(Sept 2013 has been the date of the last processed case along 2014 till now) It keeps going back an forth in 3 to 4 days increments within September 2013.

Is that normal?

Why would they do that to people? it's torture!

Your visa number has to be current before anything happens.

How would I know my PD?

The USCIS letter got lost in the mail and I had to get my case number by phone

It is on your receipt notice, but more or less it's when you filed +week. You have at least year and a half of waiting for PD to be current, if not more.

Also, you may want to get yourself acquainted with visa bulletin...

Hello Padistine,

Welcome to Visa Journey, in this visa forum a lot of your questions have been answered. I would start by giving you this link i hope it helps in getting your receipt notice, you would be needing it through this process until you get a case number from NVC. https://egov.uscis.gov/e-request/Intro.do;jsessionid=abcu2mPBO3BUla4YAIkTu. You can also follow this link for other Vermount fliers http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/524021-vermont-october-filer-for-f2a-spouse-of-green-card-holder/

Your visa number has to be current before anything happens.

That is not correct, CSC has been approving cases way before case become current, am sure VSC would start approving cases as soon as September 2013 case become close to current or current. Vermount service centre is known for being very slow.

Why do you care ? Still lots of time till your PD is current.

One step ahead shows he is getting close to be reunited with his family. Nobody expected that F2A would be current in 2013, someone already has an interview date PD June 7th 2013, So March VB 2015 would advance upto 7th June and maybe beyond.

Aha it's that receipt that was lost in the mail, what else can you advise me to know about beside visa bulletin?

I really appreciate that

Use this link to make an e-request. https://egov.uscis.gov/e-request/Intro.do;jsessionid=abcu2mPBO3BUla4YAIkTu Good luck

This process is indeed so cruel & harsh on people like us.

On one hand folks coming here on work permits can bring their spouses right along with them and there is no limitation/restriction whatsoever on their dependents VISA but for people like us we have to wait for our PD's to become current and for the VISA to became available.

For my case itself i have been waiting for last 1 year and still not sure when will our dreams become reality..!!!!

hello Padistine - yes it is torture but it is, unfortunately, the US immigration process.

Your priority date seems to be some time in January 2014 -- which is just a month after mine. (I am December 2013). Like you, I am also stuck in the Vermont processing center which is known to be notoriously slow. There's not much we can do for now but wait.....try to Ignore the California applicants who have already been approved. If you pay attention to them you will feel doubly frustrated! (don't worry, even though they have been approved, they too cannot process their cases until the PD is current which will not be until after the Vermont applicants).

So take this time to make sure your have all your ducks in a row and that you will be ready when your priority date becomes current. At the current pace it looks like your priority date will become current towards the latter part of this year.

Best of luck and hang in there!
