driver's license in Illinois

hi guys. does anybody know or are any of you living in Illinois? this is where me and my husband live and I would like to get my driver's license. My situation is that I don't have a green card yet, or my ead, I will be sending the aos papers in in a few days, my l94 is expired now, but ill have the aos noa1 pretty soon. does anybody have any experiences in getting their license or at least a permit in Illinois?

I was only able to do my drivers license after I received my EAD.

right. what about a permit? can that be obtained by providing then with a noa1 from aos?

I'm pretty sure you need a SS# to get license or permit. A permit is essentially a license with restrictions.

Once you get your notice that you sent the AOS you can get your license and state I.D. I'm in illinois, Rockford to be exact. Which part are you?
